Rick James' Prince Anectdotes in new bio funny shit, every encounter of these two egomaniacs has the underpinnings of pure comedy. In his new bio, James said that Prince stole his whole act when he let the guy open for him. The generosity of that gesture and Prince's ruthlessness was apparent here. James couldn't do his act after Prince had already stolen it. Then, there was the encounter with the pic we've all seen, of Rick ready to kick Prince's little ass for not signing and being disrespectful to Rick's Momma. Steve faragnoli made him apologize and he is seen in the pic. The funniest one was where Eddie Murphy asked Prince to produce some music for him and had a meeting. He walked off all pissed because Prince stared at him stuck his finger in his drink and sucked it. Prince comes across like a sheltered, talented little kid, who has no real social skills and is parented by people who shuttle him around and make a buck off him.

I finally got Rick's biog. a few months back and I read it cover to cover over a weekend, which is fast for me, and it just gave me a whole new respect for Rick.
I was already a big fan of the music, but the book, and his attitude to life throughout it, and upon reflection was just honest and very down to earth. I did giggle and snort at the Prince references because he just made P. sound like the little prissy bitch he probably was back then.

He has a new bio out?
Does he mention how the after-life is treating him?

Prince was NOT what the above says he was. He was FAR from spoiled or "prissy".
U R all forgetting that Prince worked his way up, unlike the spoiled-ass nephew of one of the Temptations. Prince left home at what... 14? No family connections, no nothing BUT talent and drive. Shit... Rick James was the one frontin'. He didn't even play the BASS on his records. I love his funky jams, but enough is enough with this bullshit. It was a beef, and Rick's way was 2 talk plenty of shit. Prince's way was 2 remain silent. "He's a musician's musician..."

It does, not a lot, but it's stated in the later chapters about when he's in prison. He doesn't really dwell on that time though.

I love both, and am just saying that Prince did have it hard as a kid, but as an adult he's just been a big fucking baby.

Does he mention how the after-life is treating him? That would take a new AUTObiography. It's not like you to be factually inaccurate. STEP UP.

Rick threw down some heavy funk back in the day. Prince ain't never thrown down that hard. [Edited 11/6/07 12:20pm] [/quote] no, he hasn't probably never will. Rick comes from Buffalo and you can hear the urban edge in his sound, no question. It's aggressive as hell funk, probably some of the most aggressive funk I've ever heard. Not to mention his talent for assembling top instrumental talent.

On the other hand, it probably did make Eddie uncomfortable. Prince is too masculine for Eddie. Eddie likes his men in dresses. Andy is a four letter word.

As far as the quality of it, I don't know how the reviews are going but I thouroughly enjoyed what I read. Rick was a very complex man, highly intelligent, multi-talented and with layers you can't see from the music alone.

Rick was okay but, I have watched some performances of Rick's and as a showman P would not have had to steal anything from him. Rick did not have it as a showman. Anybody can stand on the stage and smoke weed. He seemed pissed that P did not want to hang out with him and get high and Dez Dickerson said that P did not even want to be on tour with Rick because he did not want to get stuck on the RnB circuit. P was thinking 5 years ahead and Rick was still living in the 70's.
