The Title Track for the New Power Soul album. I just rediscovered this song! I think it's great - but I can tell it was redone after he met larry graham. If this song was produced like the songs on "Exodus" - it would simply be amazing.

I know there's a "New Power Soul" song on the Exodus album also - - but does anyone know if another version of "New Power Soul" from the NPS album exists?

NPS from Exodus is a different track entirely, although the follow-up to Exodus was always meant to be called 'NPS', becuase there's a segue that mentions it. I believe an earlier follow-up was planned - although my memory is sketchy on the scant details known of the proposed Exodus follow-up project - Where's BorisFishpaw or Langbleu when you need 'em!

I don't think much is known any way.

The title track isn't too bad.
It's just that I've heard better.

But I don't think there was another song that I'd listen to and when it (unknowingly) gets towards the end, I'm ready for it to be over. Let's just say for me, its tolerable up to a certain point, then I just get sick of it.

Actually, something similar happened with "Jughead"
Started okay, but it get bad pretty quick.

I've always thought that NPS was written and slated to follow Exodus - but was watered down and dilluted after Prince met larry graham and started working w/ Chaka and Doug E. Fresh. That's why NPS was supposed to have "The GOod Life BIg City Remix" on it, but it was taken out and replaced at the last minute (You can see its inclusion on the back of NPS in red). That has to be the direct result of meeting larry graham since the remix contained cuss words.

Very slept on track, it rarely gets mentioned in NPS' finest moments but I indeed love it. I like the whole album though.

Correct on Good Life story. I believe "Mad" and "The P" were other outtakes from the Exodus era.

I think the title track from NPS is the very best song of that album and one of his funkiest 90's tracks. I really love it, the bass after "right on" (3.05) and the (fake) horn parts at 4.10 are great moments.

Sure -- Go to your "New Power Soul" CD and open up the Jacket. Look at the Lyrics to "NPS."

Prince has been known to write a rap containing songs from his album (see Push rap on Diamonds and pearls). The Lyrics to the rap in NPS show all the tracks to the album "Mad Sex okay? .... Until your in my arms again..." All of the TRACKS on the album are written in capital letters. "MAD SEX" "UNTIL U'RE IN MY ARMS," WHEN U LOVE SOMEOBODY" etc.... None of the words that aren't tracks in the album are in all-caps.

Now notice, you will see "THE GOOD LIFE" written in all caps. This is because it was supposed to be a track on NPS, right after Shoo-bed-ooh.
