MOTIVATION

Ah yes, I have changed my mind about Prince.
I'm an artist and yet, I took down the portraits and murals I have created of him from my website.
It just doesn't mean that much to me.
Just my choice, I guess.
Good luck with the battle against Prince.

Peace OUT,

An Instrument that God breathed into, was such a beautiful thing to say about
Prince. I agree. I'm not standing in the way. No Parking and all that jazz.

I come in peace and for the sake of peace.
Yet I simply must speak my mind and hope that all who are involved in this PFU movement might just take a moment to reflect on the subject of motive for a while.

Prince has made a tremendous impact on my life, as I'm sure you can relate to.
We all have some very special place he takes us when we listen to and feel his music. It even blows my mind when I feel every note, every beat, and melt at the sound of his voice.

Prince has been so gracious too. I have ahdio shows that he basically GAVE to us as part of a membership to the npgmusicclub. I have these awesome memories of the celebrations at Paisley Park, seeing him 'right there' in the DJ booth mixing this awesome rendition of "ComeOn" that made my place in front of a giant speaker feel just like heaven on earth. Time stood still.

He gives us music . music. more music. more music than we even knew could come through one man. He gives us insight into what its like to be an instrument that God literally breathes into.

Do I sound like a fanatic?

That wouldn't be so cool to me.

Winston Churchill once said "A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject-"

I do not ever wish to be a Prince fanatic.

And I can honestly say that Prince doesn't want me to be a Prince fanatic either. He doesn't want anyone to be a fanatic.

If anyone has any doubt about what his reply to you is all about. Trip on this. Ask yourself honestly, What is the motivation here? What are you trying to say to Prince?
That you have a right to what?

Prince gives us so much. SO WHAT if he doesn't want us to post pics of him online. SO WHAT if he asks us to remove them.

What can possibly be gained by disrespecting his wishes?
Where do you think this will end up?

Prince's website PrinceFAMSunited is his way of telling us to focus ON THE MUSIC and be thankful for what he gives us. Without expecting more or feeling entitled to display his beautiful image on websites, etc.

Be thankful for the many gifts he has given to us.
Respect his wishes.
How does it really hurt us anyway?
Prince is not infringing upon your rights.
WE ARE INFRINGING UPON HIS RIGHTS and
I think it just might be time to count our blessings, put on our favorite Prince music and tell Mr. Music THANK YOU and that we are going to change the subject now.

Think about it. Isn't there enough fighting going on in the world without being at odds with Prince?

It's gonna be okay, people.
Lay down your funky weapon, come join us on the floor.
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for...
WE ARE THE NEW POWER GENERATION, we want to change the world...

are you standing in the way or not?

Honey, that was just a song. When you really understand the man, you learn that he doesn't mean 90% of the stuff that he sings in his songs. As great as the songs may be...please don't go basing your life on them...Prince sure doesn't.

I think it takes a lot of courage to do what Prince is doing especially since it's causing so much friction and misunderstanding among lovers of his art. His actions seem contrary to what most entertainers strive for. But hasn't Prince always had the guts to go a step above in one way or another? He has the fortitude to try to mold a change into an industry that needs an improvement. Unless and until someone comes forward to make these changes, things are going to remain the same and/or get more out of hand.
For years Prince asked the bootleggers to stop, some may have, but others continued copyright infringement. Standing up for oneself and asking for fairness is a hard task. There isn't a guaranteed outcome and I'm sure Prince didn't think that this would make him more popular.
Still, he's decided to engage in this difficult task to try to change the way things have been evolving. He's a pioneer in the frontier of intellectual property. Without someone willing to make a stand for the truth about what's fair and right, no one moves forward. twocents

They were part of the membership arrangement for which people paid a monthly fee during Year 1. The shows were part of the contract.

Mmmm .... yes

That wouldn't be so cool to me.

I do not ever wish to be a Prince fanatic.

And I can honestly say that Prince doesn't want me to be a Prince fanatic either. He doesn't want anyone to be a fanatic.

So presumably, if you agree with Churchill, you would be prepared to change your mind regarding Prince?

If anyone has any doubt about what his reply to you is all about. Trip on this. Ask yourself honestly, What is the motivation here? What are you trying to say to Prince?

Where do you think this will end up?

To date, the only way we have of even interpreting Prince's wishes is through the summaries of threats he has made through the agents he has employed. Those agents have made it very difficult for the PFU websites to articulate clearly the demands being made, but they have obviously interpreted them to exceed simply demanding the removal of pictures in which Prince has clearly-established legal rights.

By opposing the threats, the stand is attempting to ensure people's own rights to post pictures, opinions and information are not overreached by some all-encompassing demand.

Prince's website PrinceFAMSunited is his way of telling us to focus ON THE MUSIC and be thankful for what he gives us. Without expecting more or feeling entitled to display his beautiful image on websites, etc.

are you standing in the way or not?

Amazing. You ask everyone to question their own motives, but you make tremendous assumptions about what Prince's own motives are.

You even have the timerity to suggest that people should not support a stand against Prince because there are other people fighting in the world!.

Not only is the argument irrational, but the one-sided approach comes across as fanatical. As I understand it, the PFU sites have acknowledged that they are prepared to work towards ensuring the pictures posted do not infringe Prince's legal rights. They are not taking a stand against the posting of those pictures, but rather the broader implications of the demands.
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Personally i remember paying to be a part of that club..I also remember him tearing it down without warning and never reimbursing me for my membership..! confused

I was there too ..all the celebrations in fact..and The way I remember it..Nobody was giving a damn about Prince outside of the Diehards that would camp out in Chanhassen Minnesota for a week to hear Prince perform/try to convert people to his Religious beliefs and to possibly catch a glimpse of the man up close..I think the least he could do is stroll out with security guards and play a few tunes at the DJ booth.

I personally am not one of the people saying F#%# PRINCE !
I Do however believe that he is the king of contradiction..Very often a Liar..and I believe that he "Bends" situations all the time to suit his particular needs.."How many years has he been raking in the $$$$ by selling his "PLAYING THE HITS FOR THE LAST TIME" Line..?

My big issue with Prince..which isnt really all that big..Because I have a life of my own..and Many other Artists who's music I prefer is:

Chill out and be appreciative of the people that support you unconditionally..
Accept who you are..and the Business that you choose to be in..and Get over all the Bullshit ! Make Music..and be happy that you have 10 lifetimes worth of money already !
