Prince: "people on there say things about me that i don't like, and i want it to stop."

BSP: "now. was that so hard? unfortunately, that's going to happen. you're a public figure. you've been in the limelight for most of your life, haven't you?"

Prince: "yes."

BSP: "so there's going to be people that love everything you do. there's going to be people that hate everything you do. and there's going to be a ton of people in the middle that like some of this, and hate some of that."

Prince: "but it hurts my feelings."

BSP: "i'm sure it's not an easy thing to do. to be honest, i don't know if i could deal with it. but you know what? probably a better thing to do would be to not read these things if they bother you that much."

Prince: "i suppose."

BSP: "seriously. just because i think Planet Earth is garbage, doesn't mean i don't like you as a person. it just means i don't like the album."

Prince: "but i am my music. if you don't like the album, then you don't like me."

BSP: "well, that's a pretty black and white way of looking at things. do you like everything that you've ever done?"

Prince: "YES."

BSP: "well, that might be a problem. really? like even now? like you watch Graffiti Bridge and you think....."

Prince: "it still makes me cry."

BSP: (mumbles) "well, me too but not for the same reason."

Prince: "what?"

BSP: "nothing."

BSP: "look. let's try this. you do what you did before, and create your own official home on the internet. with your own boards and chat rooms. and the people that love everything like you can go there and you can monitor them and edit out the things that hurt your feelings and you can bilk them, er i mean sell them stuff and they will buy it. and then, you can just leave these other places alone and let them do their thing."

Prince: "but i want to control everything that's said about me."

BSP: "i know you do, but you can't."

Prince: "why not?"

BSP: "because you can't get everything you want."

Prince: "sure, i can. i'm Prince. watch. hey!!! i need a purple turkey! you! go get me one!!!"

random flunky: "yes, sir. right away sir."

BSP: "okay, maybe i should re-phrase. you can try to control everything that's said about you on the internet, but in the long run you're just going to hurt yourself more."

Prince: "why's that?"

BSP: "see all of those people over there? the ones with that look on their face? believe it or not, they like you. they really do. they want you to keep on making music and doing shows. but since you've gone after these sites, they're now really angry. they don't want to buy your stuff anymore or come see you at your shows."

Prince: "why?"

BSP: "because they don't like you telling them how to think and what to do."

Prince: "why?"

BSP: "remember when you were signed to Warner Brothers, and you wanted to put out 3 albums in a year, and they told you no?"

Prince: "yeah. i didn't like that."

BSP: "well, that's how they feel."

Prince: "oh."

BSP: "see, so you gotta stop this. let them be, go create your own internet utopia and everyone can co-exist in peace. okay?"

Prince: "okay."

BSP: "thanks, for listening."

Prince: "you're welcome. thanks for explaining that to me. hey, did you like my PFUnk song?"

I suppose first, I'd be brutally honest. "Stop acting like a teenager ridden with angst and sass. Act like the 49-year old you are." Then, I'd address his handling of the situation. "Open your mouth. You've got people questioning their love for you. It isn't the fans that slander your name in expression and discussion. It is the haters. They are come and go with all celebs. When you defend yourself against that and call us phony, we're the ones that get punished. We're the ones that have haters trashing our sites because of how you've handled this. Don't you care?
