Why dont Prince's relationships last?

Just wondering why Prince is still single, and has numerous failed relationships behind him, when clearly from his music he sounds like the perfect Boyfriend?

Honestly, I think he sounds like the most amazing lover/husband/partner, like if you were loved by him you would be the luckiest perosn alive, so why has he not found the 'one' yet?
Oh Princey if your free for a couple of hours...If you aint busy for the next 7 years...Lets Pretend were married, and go all night..

Because he seems to have dificulties with being satisfied with having just ONE lady and his music comes first.

Even when he has been married though? I would have thought that he would have been satisfied with one lady if he took vows for them to be his wife.

You know, my guess is that he really thought they were the one and only, but then things happen and other ladies come along... I think he's a hopeless romantic who wants to find the one but he also has too much of an ego to make the needed changes... He wants to have the cake and eat it.

It must be extremely demanding to be his lady and it ain't easy to find someone who's strong enough to put up with so much... But it's never too late.
Maybe he already has what he needs without realizing it, maybe he's looking for love in all the wrong places...

Sounds like he wants his women to "bend like the wind", and most young women today just don't play that. How much bending is HE doing? confused

cash is something women find very attractive.

A lot of relationships develop too many problems...Lust is necessary, however, that is always the easy part of the work between two people.

Most puppy loves exist between the boy and the girl that live right down the street from one another or go to the same high school. When there is a planet outside of your own little town.

Not every person that you lust physically that God has thrown into your path is someone you should dive into bed with.

And for men that treat women like they are on some type of sexual menu, to quench their thirst...will find someday that a woman a day will only lead to the end of your life with peices of women...you could never collect them all.

And women, Use sex to manipulate a man, and he falls for it, and then they usually dive into his pockets, to compensate for the fact, that they are not the only pretty girl in the world.

Understanding relationships should be discussed within life classes in elementary school through high school, to prepare the children of the world for the fact, that when your hormones are racing, and you fall into puppy love, it doesn't mean that a happy child will be born from the couple.

Many of us marry too young, and those that don't, marry out of convenience, rather than being true to what their heart is looking for.

You're right with your statement. Emphasis would be on
cash though. Women would be attracted to your money and not your old wrinkle-butt. I bet an older, rich woman can buy herself a younger lover, too!
Problem is, all the money in the world can't buy love!
Maybe Prince isn't looking for love after all. In a world that is mainly driven by sex and youth, I wouldn't be surprised at all, if Prince is brain-washed enough to fall into the same trap. Most men would rather have the arm-candy, that makes them look like the stud they aspire to be, than have an average-looking woman, who would possibly make the better life-partner.
In Prince's case I'm not sure, he has what is takes to make a relationship last.
His money doesn't seem to help to keep his women around now, does it!?
He seems to have unrealistic expectations when it comes to his women and gets bored very easily.
But like I said, maybe he isn't looking for love. When it comes to love, it's more about giving, than it is about taking. If you're not willing to give, it ain't gonna happen! And by giving, I don't mean money or materalistic things.
love the one who is Love!

Because he is a true artist. He's always searching for something new. Not only his relationships don't last, but also bandmembers, friends, employees will be dumped. He just gets bored with people after a couple of years.

Exactly.I also don't think Prince is the "marrying kind".He puts his music first, and no wife can compete with that.

From his music's POV,

in "Something in the Water", he thinks its the woman's problem that his relationship don't last.
Then in "Computer Blue" and "Temptation", he says he's the one with the problem because he's all about sex and not love. Also that he loves too fast and hates too soon.

But I believe this is the answer:

Music is his first love. Always has been and always will be. Compared to it, any woman in his life is still his 2nd priority. Sad, but true. So I say that he needs to find a woman who respects his music and loves music as much as he does and doesn't mind taking 2nd place to his guitar.

He's really used of women throwing themselves after him and he can't just stay committed so someone fully until he meets that one special woman that is just like him. The one who thinks like him but also like someone who he admired from a long time ago like his mother or aunt. He best be careful and keep doing what he does until we meet again...and on that note...

I wanna dedicate "Next Lifetime" by Eryka Badu

Now what am I supposed to do
When I want you in my world
How can I want you for myself
When I'm already someone's girl? (2 times)
First time that I saw you boy
It was a warm and sunny day
All I know is I wanted you
I really hoped you looked my way
When you smiled at me
So warm and sweet
I could not speak
You make me feel like a little bitty girl
What do you do to me
Repeat 1-(2 times)
I guess I'll see you next lifetime
No hard feelings
I guess I'll see you next lifetime
I'm gonna be there
Your energy
Feels so damn good to me
It picks me up don't wanna come down
You got me spinning all around
Yeah
You need to know
I've got that somebody
You're beautiful
But it ain't that type of party
Repeat 1 (2 times)
Well I guess I'll see you next lifetime
Maybe we'll be butterflies
I guess I'll see you next lifetime
That sounds so divine
I guess I'll see you next lifetime
I guess I will now
I guess I'll see you next lifetime
Wait
Wait a little while
See it ain't nothing wrong with dreaming
Boy don't get me wrong
Cause every time (every time) I see you (every single time)
I know just how strong (every single time)
That my love is for my baby
But emotions just don't lie
Well I know I'm a lot of woman
But not enough to divide the pie
Repeat 1 (1 time)
I guess I'll see you next lifetime
You know I want to stay around
I guess I'll see you next lifetime
I'm so confused now
Repeat 1 (1 time)
I guess I'll see you next lifetime
Already
I'm going to be there
I guess I'll see you next lifetime
I'm going to look for you
Repeat 1 (1 time)
I guess I'll see you next lifetime
Oh
Oh baby
I'm gonna be there
I'm gonna be there
Um... let me warm up my vocals
Me ME ME ME ME...U U U U U!

LOL Yeah, his music portrays him as the ideal bf, but music is hardly the most honest indicator of his real life behaviour.

Of course, none of us know Prince, but the most obvious things are that he's a type two control freak and narcissistic. That doesn't bode well for interpersonal relationships.

I think he should have a harem. Than the women can emuse each other instead of feeling lonely and abandoned, when he's working with his music. It's also better for him to say "yes" to all of them, instead of causing "circles of jelousy" around him and his lady. Well, it may happend in a harem aswell, of course...razz

I think Prince has someone in mind. But I think he's a little hesitant. He needs to get over his fear and make a move. Time is so precious.

Seems to me he's had two lasting relationships in his life -- one with music, the other with God.

Hmm some of the comments here make me mention something i've been wondering about recently - how many of the lyrics he writes are autobiographical? A few of you guys have quoted lines from songs to shed light on how he feels about relationships... do any orgers know if he's been asked about this in interviews or anything? It seems like some of the songs tell little stories that grab his fancy (unless he actually did sleep with his sister when he was 16!?!?!), but some of the seem so deeply from the heart it's heard to believe they aren't about his personal feelings. Whaddya think?
You might not like the taste but I'm still gonna stick your face in this FUNK

I believe all of his songs are a part of him or were a part of him at the point he wrote them. He plays on words a lot and he creates different characters for himself throughout his work. Which characters are based on fact, I can't be completely sure. But his "beautiful" songs, the love songs with beautiful musical accompaniment, those are as close to the truth as they come. "The Morning paper" "Damn U" "A Million Days" "Call My name" are just a handful of those.

He's married to his music and having an affair with himself

True, he is married to his work, as artists tend to be.

But truth be told, you do have to love yourself before you can openly love anyone else.
He's probably just afraid of commitment because past ones haven't worked for him. Warner Brothers have made him distrustful of contracts and any "binding" relationships. Which is why he's probably afraid of having a 3rd marriage.
hmmm He's a tricky fellow, but this is what I've gathered so far.
