So, is anyone else indifferent? I'm not really stirred by this controversy at all. None of this makes me feel more for or against Prince at all. As more than a casual fan I suppose I should feel strongly about one side of the argument or the other but ultimately I don't. I do feel that this is going to be a long and drawn-out event that'll make up a lengthy chapter in future Prince biographies. And as far as the PFunk song goes, he could've personally threatened me by name in the thing and it still wouldn't make me like it any less. It's awesome. Anyone else feeling the same way?

I agree. In some strange way, I'm enjoying it. Prince is just proving, as a person, he's a complete arse. He just happens to be a a musical god.
However, I do think this period will go down in history as the day/week/month he trashed his career. This is his Michael Jackson moment. This "Ownership" thing is his Jordy Chandler. .

i am indifferent to all this maybe because i am relatively new and havent been on these sites for long. i can understand both sides views the fans want freedom of speech and prince wants control, maybe he has moved on from the older stuff and wants people to focus on his newer stuff without comparing/critising it. as this develops i may end up being more for one side than the other but at present i am happy to sit back and watch where this is going
though i have to admit i love the new song PFUnk forget the lyrics if they cause offence and just listen to that funky music the guitar is amazing on it oh yeah and by the way i like planet earth and i had an amazing time at the O2 (kinda random but in all the threads it seems like people are moaning about both of them and i just wanted to add my lil bit) With Love there is no Death

Freedom of Speech...I guess we all have that.
It really comes down to this...As u get older, wiser, kinder, you begin to realize that it doesn't get your point across to repeatedly insult somebody. Spouting off temporarily is something we all have done and can do, however, When someone goes on and on in verbal attack, you lose respect for yourself, and you become uninteresting to listen to. If a problem exists, it has to be addressed maturely, and so many people on this site have gone way overboard. I have had my times of frustration, and a team of wild horses couldn't stop me from swearing, and belittling myself in the process. Especially in times of frustration from being misunderstood. I got nowhere with that behavior, and neither will anyone else. Name calling, and childish jabs at Prince, will probably hurt his feelings for a minute or two and then he will realize, it's just impossible to make a horse drink water, no matter how the horse is lead. I spent ten years in a marriage with a horse that couldn't drink a drop of spirituality, because he wasn't thirsty for it...He enjoyed his selfish style, of being cruel, because it was the only way he could feel powerful. There are a lot of weak individuals here, that really don't have an argument at all, it's just a bunch of muddy water foaming at the mouth. Prince has a lot of credit for being a beautiful and spiritual man, and I can see that he has made a positive difference in many people's lives, and they aren't afraid to show that...If you don't love him anymore, just go away. That is the only thing that will make you look like a valuable citizen of a love oriented community. Come back when your well. Cause hate is an illness, and it isn't for life. Indifferent? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

[Edited 11/9/07 18:41pm] Contradition!?!?! So you say we can all sprout off once, but not twice? Then we lose respect? Well Prince has done just that. First a cease and desist, second a song that disses hit own fans. It seems to me that you have substituted your bad experiences with Prince. Much like born again christians do with god. .

[Edited 11/9/07 18:41pm] I understand your point... but the thing you dont understand.. there seems to be a misunderstanding between.. 'new' Prince fans and 'old' ones...(and yes you can tell right away) the new fans cant seem to understand the point of view of older fans, so when older fans vent alittle (i dont agree with all venting) newer fans take it personal.. not saying i justify name calling (i dont) but i do understand where they're coming from when they do it.. when u're a Prince fan for 20 - 25+ years.. u've gone through a hell of a roller coaster ride.... and considering the 'fact' that non-Prince fans are already giving you hell for being a Prince fan in the 1st place.. for it to come from Prince himself (like this latest incident that vaguely has clarity ) .. is too much [Edited 11/9/07 19:33pm]

It's no more or less than what he's done REPEATEDLY over the years. Each and every time he does something, people claim he'll have no more fans. Well, he's done things like this many, many, many times before and the general public couldn't care less. And I don't really care either; just another interesting footnote in Princedom.
