web sheriff can't mess with THAT. Um... Actually - and you may find this surprising - in the UK, you could be taken to court for "unlicensed public performance", if somebody else can hear your radio. A case was brought against a chain of British motor-fitting garages called Kwik-Fit. The mechanics blasted out music on their radios whilst working, a member of the Performing Rights Society complained that a customer could be exposed to this music - and the case went to court. http://thescotsman.scotsm...=968662007 The case is still ongoing... http://www.lawdit.co.uk/r...k-Fit.html

Well said jonylawson.
The way I've always looked at it is that the music is my top priority as a fan. That's what drew me to Prince, and that's what keeps me going. Stuff like pics, videos, bootlegs, collections, fansites and general life in the 'fan community' is like icing on the cake. It's great fun, and much respect goes to the people who run and contribute to it. But when it boils down to it, it's still just icing on an already scrumptious cake. So while I do support the PFU and their cause, it's not going to kill me if it turns out to be all for nothing. I'm not going to be all melodramatic about it. I'll be dissapointed of course, but there's much more to life than worrying about the relationship between an artist and his fans. As always, as soon as the next album/tour drops things will settle down. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

I totally make you right. I just came on line to write a very similar post actually. I've been listening to the ONA Live CD's tonight and I thought you know what, so what if he's being a dick right now. He's still got what we all loved him for in the first place - a wonderful talent to make the best funky music on the planet. We can't take that away from him ever. So I'm going to try to forget what sillyness he's up to at the moment, try not to take it to heart/too seriously and enjoy Prince for what he is - the bestest, funkiest, sexiest, music-maker/live performer on planet earth.

"...let him do whatever...", like bully his fans? I wish I could separate separate Prince's ugly actions from his music, but it's hard in this case because it involves us, the fans. If he were bullying his ex-wife, his staff or kicking a dog, then I'd have an easier time continuiing to enjoy the music. The music can be great but coming from a controlling, greedy and insecure artist makes the experience less palatable. Apparently Britney Spear's latest album is getting decent critical reviews, but is it possible to enjoy the music the same way knowing about her maternal antics? Or to watch Parent Trap the same way with Lindsay Lohan's escapades? At least Britney and Lindsay actions aren't directly related to their fans.

If Prince doesn't make a humdred dollars from a handful of people that talk
like they haven't been paying attention to the Love he has delivered, than, He will be more successful. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

It's good that you're able to separate Prince's public life from his music, I wish I could. Read the staff blog from the front page and the other related threads to see how myself and others interpret Prince's latest actions as bullying.
