PFU is the right move For the 2 fans who support Prince in this (lol)...
It was a great move on the part of these 3 sites to make this situation public because every other day they receive notices from Prince's lawyers to remove this picture, that picture, and to not refer to Prince in certain ways... such as "this album sucks," "i hate his new music" "Prince has lost it." If you haven't figured out already, Prince can't handle criticism. I can indirectly prove it by referring you to the NPGMC forums, where negative posts about Prince WERE NOT ALLOWED AND THEREFORE CENSORED. How else would you handle it, if every day you received a new threat about pictures, videos, links, posts, reviews, etc. The time has come to stand up and fight back in numbers. Getting the word out of what has been going on is the best thing that could happen. The worst thing would be to keep it quiet, keep getting harassed by lawyers, and keep getting threatened. Sometimes you have to do what you think is right, and I think all three sites have complied with most everything Prince wanted long enough, and Prince has now taken it too far. If Prince had it his way, there would only be one site with news, and you would not be free to post what you wanted about him. You could only post approved topics. Do you really want to be a part of that? Shouldn't people be allowed to call Prince a washed up loser who hasn't made a good album in 20 years? That's exactly what Prince wants; one hegemonic community of drones. His vision of the future must consist of an official message board where every user makes comments like, "Planet Earth has got 2 b the best thing Prince ever made! Oh my goodness, this is a perfect piece of art! Praise 2 Jehovah 4 PRINCE!" [Edited 11/6/07 21:00pm] The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Also, if we don't fight for our rights...those being Freedom of Speech, Right to Fair Use, and when he really flips his perm because of all the press this is getting...Freedom of Assembly  now, what's to stop him from saying we can't discuss his work, his art, his music that we all can agree we love so much...online...at all, later? | |
