But Web Sheriff insist Prince himself has nothing to do with the lawsuit threat - it is the work of record label. What "record label"???? It is all nonsense. Housequake has been threatened for a long time, regular fans have had their photobucket accounts emptied, even though Prince does not own the copyright to those images, and Prince's camp has made request after request of the fan sites, even so much not to refer to Prince in a negative way. It's called "spin", people! Web Sheriff has single handedly alienated more than 90% of Prince's fan base, thought we'd just go away quietly, found out how mistaken he was and now he's trying to clean it up because of the bad press!

They have also received a letter from Prince's attorneys in France regarding the PFU site :
...your activities of online communications to the public come under and are subject to article 6 of the French law...which include provisions for civil liability, criminal liability and criminal sanctions reaching 1 year of imprisonment and fines up to 15000 Euros.
...the 2004 Law specifically provides that once Prince is designated or named on your public online communications, Prince disposes of a legal right of response for each posting, without prejudice of demands for corrections and removal of messages that may be sent to your services. Within three days...the operators and owners of the website will be required to grant Prince the legal right of response guaranteed as a fundamental right equal to that of freedom of speech and post such response of equal placement, size and duration as each and every statement designating Prince therein throughout your websites. Each violation thereof impeding upon Prince's fundamental legal right of response will give rise to a fine of 3750 Euros, without prejudice of other sanctions and claims for damages. It further appears that no action has been taken to remove and prevent the infringing and apparently defamatory content in respect to our clients. Apparently they claim that Housequake should be subject to French law because French users have access to the website ? His attorneys should know more than anyone -- if Webs Sheriff, Universal Records, or WHOEVER is acting on Prince's behalf - then they are his agents under the law and any action of them is imputed to Prince - therefore, Prince is, indeed, suing his fans. Sorry Prince - you can't use the law to prosecute fans then hide behind the same law when trying to hide what you're doing. I never thought I'd be able to compare Prince to George W. Bush's administration. If GAP, inc. pays a manufacturing plant in Cambodia that uses sweatshop labor, they cannot then claim "GAP doesn't use sweatshop labor" simply because the plant doesn't have the name "Gap." thats a good point. We should send hate mail to them for attacking fans. the last thing they need after all the sony records problem is bad press like that.
