It's Prince's right to demand compensation from non profit fan sites? And is it also his right to demand people only say approved things about him?

co-sign thumbs up!

Prince, do whatever you feel is right. Whatever works for you and I will support it no matter what.

I will support you no matter what.

Even with everything that's going wrong here tonight, my loyalty to you will not die. That is a promise.

Yeah but God has a whole world of his talents...and we live in it. And when I pick flowers (some of his creations) to share their beauty with someone, he doesn't seem to mind because it all comes back to him.

Sure it's different because Prince isn't God and he has a right to protect what is his, and it's business and all that, but there's a way to do it. Probably, more like the way God would.

Hey, you started with all the God stuff.

June7, QuietSeven wasn't bumping the thread. QuietSeven was replying to the comments with their original post. It's a message within itself, one that shows tolerance and kindness by the action within itself.

Remember that line from Graffiti Bridge...something like when a man screams you must learn to whisper. Well that's just one parable. I would quote one from the Bible but it's lost here. neutral

My support for Prince isn't going to change.

But how I feel about the fanbase is definitely changing dramatically.

Feels like 95% have become haters and 5% still believe in Prince and support him.

I'm not sure what Prince is thinking right now. He doesn't seem like the angry/violent type, the type who holds grudges.

If he's going to these lengths, I can't help but feel he's scared for himself. He's trying to protect himself and his image and whatever else. Or he's just gotten paranoid with the way his music and image is being used by the public. I'm not quite sure which, but I hope that if he's going through some kind of crisis that it gets resolved soon. If he did all this in light of that, I can't imagine what he must be feeling right now.

I don't see anger or revenge.

I see pain and suffering

comfort Prince. You'll always be cool with me.
Even if this site goes poof, the music will be all I need.

I'm more concerned with the webmasters and normal every day people getting threatening letters. Prince has money, fame, and power. The people Prince is trying to get even more money from are just fans. Why would he demand compensation? That's low.

i agree.although i have only been a member here for awhile,i'm starting to see a lot of offensive postings and intrusive hearsay from too many people. if the fansites disappeared we could all just get on with appreciating just by listening to the music and going to see the concerts!
do i really need to hear others' opinions on the latest album, tour or personal life? no.i don't.i've been a long time fan b4 joining a fansite and will continue if it no longer exists.
do i think he treating his supporters' badly? from my perspective, not really.freedom of speech is good in my book, but there seems to be a line that has been crossed by a few here lately that has become disrepectful and positivly venomous.
maybe this is why this situation has come around. all i can say is,if you don't like his actions and no longer want to support his music.just walk away,it's that simple.

What a tepid defense of freedom of speech.

By the way, some would say that frivolous lawsuits are disrespectful and positively venomous. At the heart of all the negative threads (consistently over the past few months) has been the message that Prince does not have the law on his side; he is only using his money and power to bully small operations with ridiculous legal threats.

people take venomous and disrespectful criticism everyday...why should Prince be any different...the thing that really boggles my mind is that some are so blind to the fact that Prince has always been a control freak...that being said, much of the criticism he receives about his "personality" is warranted...

sure, people use colorful and disrespectful language sometimes in their criticism but thats their perogative (or problem depending on your point of view)...I've said a few choice things about Prince in these forums and I've received the backlash that goes along with it from folks that disagreed with me...that's fair...that's the way it should be...but what Prince is suggesting is absolutely intolerable...basically my opinion of him, wether it be positive or negative, should have no open forum to be discussed...unless he provides it...

the fact that I even take time to post this means I give a damn...mainly about this site where I've made a few friends...even thru all his b.s. I still give a damn about Prince...but I refuse to be so blinded my my fan-dom that I won't stand up for what's right...

the things said about Prince here can be taken with a grain of salt...if anything, they are more a reflection of the poster and their mind set...they have minimal if any reflection on Prince...it's all subjective anyway...and quite honestly, Prince is the last one that should give anybody a lesson on being subjective...twocents
