Anti-Idolatry? Would explain a lot . . . but not everything

I`dol´a`try
n. 1. The worship of idols, images, or anything which is not God; the worship of false gods.

I wonder how much of Prince's current crusade against YouTube, eBay, and the fansites has to do with anti-idolatry? He has mentioned before (in recent years) that idolatry is a sin, breaking the 1st Commandment.

Maybe he sees all the tattoos (which I personally heard him speak out against), paintings, etc. as us worshipping him ... which might make him nervous, in the eyes of God, about his own involvement in that.

So by removing all sources of idolatry that are WITHIN HIS CONTROL (i.e. on the Web), he's doing his part and can put his spiritual conscience at ease.

I would have agreed with you, but if it hadn't been for the 21 nights in London. He lapped up all the attention. He picked sexy idolising songs. He even produced a pillow on sale so you can sleep with him.

You could even say that concert performance is promoting idolisation. At least Cat Stevens had the balls to follow through with his own self imposed ban.

Prince is promoting the idolatry right now on his website.

i'm definately feeling this as a theory, but if it is the answer, even in part, why oh why didn't prince make it plain and clear 2 evryone, b4 the shit hit the fan (no pun intended), at least then people would kno the score and act accordingly, and not just react 2 hearsay, speculation, third party threats and fear of losing what they love, be it a fansite, web friends, or prince himself.

It's a good theory for people that never intend to say something that could hurt his feelings, or cast a light on him in a way he wouldn't cast something.

If I decide to make a phone call....I make the phone call, I don't write down on a piece of paper, someone's phone number, send it across town, and as the neighborhood kid to dial it for me and leave a message....This is the point...

Prince's message will go through 3121.com Anything anywhere else is questionable. And tracing someones contribution to defamation of character, is a legal approach. However, Prince is legally asking for respect....this warning is now.

I thought about that too but now I'm leaning more towards someone else not liking Prince's fans adoration of him because this whole mess started while he was busy doing the London shows. He supposedly hired Web Sheriff right in the middle of that tour. Something stills bothers me about that.

Prince said he was taking a sabbatical after the London shows. What if he's in complete seclusion and has no idea about what Web Sheriff and somebody he's trusted enough to leave in charge while he was away have been up to?

Like how Paulie was temporarily in charge of the Balboa estate while Rocky was still in Russia after defeating Drago? We all know how that ended ...

That was the best excuse for this mess I could come up with. sad
