Try to face the truth.

Movies for years had a trailer that listed the fact that by no means was the material intended for copying or redistribution....

That should have been obvious knowlege when dealing with another medium, such as dvd's

And photographs are the same way...Just because I give a photo of myself to a friend, does not mean I want them posting it for public view on an internet web site.

Prince is just like anyone else.

no, not really.

if people magazine takes a picture of prince at an awards event, guess whose picture it is:

prince's? BZZZZT!!! wrong!

ours? BZZZTTT!!! wrong again!

people magazine's, or perhaps the photographer's? DING DING DING!!! correct! biggrin

publications usually don't mind if pictures are reproduced on other sites as long as you use your own web space to host the pic and sometimes they want some kind of attribution (though the really big publications either watermark their pics or they just don't care).

but if YOU take a picture of prince, he may not WANT his picture taken, but if it happens and you get a picture and his bodyguard doesn't smash your camera to bits, then the resulting pictures of prince belong to YOU.

not prince. YOU.

there are other laws he's completely ignoring. take a look at fair use laws. it's like he's completely ignoring fair use because it doesn't suit his version of reality or something.

But it fits Tame's version of reality. Isn't that all that matters?

He isn't like everyone else. He is one of the most famous American's in the world. He hasn't been like everyone else since he was 19.
He isn't taking private photos and sharing them with his cousins or whatever.
He is going to high profile events and performing at sold out venues. You're gonna have some pictures taken of ya if your'e in a high profile public setting.
I'm not saying its the most pleasant thing but it goes with the life style he has chosen.

I can tell u this, and that is that Photographers's have every right to take a picture, as if it were to be stored in his own photo album for home viewing....when it crosses that line it is an individual discussion, on whether or not the photo should be distributed.

If a professional model, or a girl without her makeup on, or an average person like you in a compromised position....is taken off-guard.....it would not be courteous to distribute.

Out of the millions of photographs that exist of Prince, I think he has every right to decide which photo's should remain in circulation.

If you are sharing a detail...a captured moment of Prince's lifestyle, it isn't the whole puzzle....maybe it's a piece of his life that isn't for us.....the fans....that's what I mean by everybody else....I am not famous but I've had it happen to me, and I didn't like it.

Prince is just like anyone else.

You are confusing moral arguments and legal rights and how they might apply differently to different material.

Wrapping it up with a thread title about 'the truth' makes your claims look laughable.

Since when is Prince to blame? Someone else is abusing his image, not Prince himself obviously!!!!!

You are right Langebleu, however, there may have at one time been a day, where moral absolutes, based on the bible, were the foundation for our legal system.

And in Prince's case, if his morality is the issue of a particular photograph, that is the only justification the law has to make their claim with.

And that is where Prince easily wins...because if he chooses to deny access to his materials to those that have abused his image previously, these claims will be considered to be earlier, and questionalble because of lack of knowlege of the subject. Now that the matter is out in the open....

The truth will speak for itself....As long as a light of love is painted in our discusssions with eachother about Prince...a law suit would be unnecessary...It will be the folks that continue to push buttons, that suffer a year from now....Not those of the day.....we are in, mock trial mode.

We know that this primarily deals with, defamation of character due to words that are exchanged, premeditating or insinuating an action of Prince's.

Or exchanging words with the intention of delivering an insult, about someone's private emotions about spirituality, money, sexual relations, old news, whatever... it may be that would discredit, a fine musician.

I have stongly announced that I have been disappointed with, a fansite, that would even include, harassing statements. They are nothing, that anyone around Prince needs to hear, nor have to defend....

Prince shouldn't need to ask for a kind circle of communication....He demands nothing that he wouldn't deliver for you in kindness.....

This Prince hates his fans nonsense, should be labeled as such.
