Now, the only experience I've had with astronomy are the two special-edition dvds of "The Right Stuff" and "Apollo 13" I recently purchased. That and the book on astronauts my auntie gave me when I was 12. Which was 5 years ago.

So I doddle off to this forum (thesaurus in hand), and seat myself amongst a group of people who KNOW their space shit. The discussion begins, and I find myself dominating it with opinions based on the little knowledge I have on the subject. What I should be doing is listening and asking questions when I can't offer anything concrete. But I don't. Soon, a fraction of this group finds me rather annoying and tells me so. I stand up (in my I NASA t-shirt), thank them for their opinion and proceed to tell them of my newfound, yet profound, love of all things aeronautic.

While most appreciate my enthusiasm, some(including John Glenn, whom I don't recognize), are simply wishing I would leave. Again, I don't. Instead I offer to recite a poem;

the sky, the sky
apple of my eye
orange you going tell me your secrets
try as i might i could never keep it

Laughter AND applause!! They must love me!

Then the unthinkable. A breaking news reports that Canada has made it Mars. During the conferrence!! I'm crushed and "announce" I'll be leaving the states for a country that understands my need to go to infinity and beyond.
