Oaktown show full of surprises
As if the phat funk of GCS and the NPG was not enough, friends at the Oaktown show got an xtra dose of fun from opening act, comedian Arnez J... watching him bust a move could make any1 bust out laughing! During the encore, friends got a real treat when the NPG broke in2 MAD SEX, a new madfunky jam that's overflowing with flava! The aftershow was all that 2, with the NPG and GCS tradin tunes 'til the wee hours of the morning... Arnez even jumped in on lead vocals 4 a few. With surprises at virtually every stop along the way, one thing is 4 certain - every city the tour takes on is in 4 some serious fun! NPG keep rollin'!

Minneapolis friends r all that!
Not only r the friends in Minneapolis funky, but they sho know the meaning of love 4 one another! The 2-day warm-clothing drive at the Jam of the Year shows brought in more than 500 coats and hundreds of gloves, hats and mittens... some donors gave brand new coats or whole bags full of items! We at love central were on hand 2 witness all the love coming in, and r duly impressed!
Ain't no party like a Paisley Park party
The afterparties Wednesday and Thursday night following the Minneapolis concerts were off the meathook! House jock Brother Jules spun some funky mad mixes and got the party pumped 4 the afterjam of the year... the NPG, the GSC and the NPGCS kept the house rockin until 5 am, and did it all over again Thursday night... is Paisley Park the funkiest place on Earth or what?

Love4OneAnother's continuing fresh produce donations across the US have been welcomed with many a heartfelt thank-u and have introduced us 2 an angel or 2 along the way... workers at one food bank led us 2 a man who gives gardens away 2 families in need... his program has been an overwhelming success! Not only do the gardens produce enough food 4 the families 2 share with their neighbors, but the gardens continue 2 produce year after year... a concept we love! Look 4 us this spring in a garden near u!

Dance company postpones 2 revamp promotion efforts
The New Power Generation Dance Company is postponing per4mances 2 revamp the promotion aspect of the tour... in an effort 2 maximize the revenue received, the company opted 2 self-promote the shows much like 's Jam of the Year Tour, with marginal success... although critically lauded as "a new and fun direction in dance," the business side has been less fruitful. Mayte, the creative director of the company, says, "We xpected a slow start. Word is spreading, but starting a brand new dance company is difficult. We r looking at several options as far as financing r dream is concerned. I have learned over the last few years that with faith, all things r possible!" All of us here at Love4oneanother wish the NPGDC Godspeed!

Much love 2 the Chicago Nation and all who helped the coat drive outside the NPGDC's show over the weekend...few coats were collected at the show itself, but members of the Chi-Nation and friends got it 2gether...by Wednesday's end, nearly 75 coats were collected! Not bad 4 a first time effort on short notice...this is what love is all about!

NPGDC's opening nite in Detroit was a blast on Friday... 's invited guests included LARRY GRAHAM with his beautiful wife and daughter, TONY RICH, who brought along his brother, and KAT DYSON from the NPG... was visibly moved when his wife, MAYTE took her bows at the per4mance's end... 's party converged on a local dining joint when who should walk in...STEVIE WONDER, a Detroit native. With The Artist on drums, TONY on keys, LARRY on bass and none other than MR. FINGERTIPS himself on keys, vocals and harmonica, the afterdinner supergroup per4ormed Thanku, Eye Wanna Take U Higher, Superstition and a new WONDER-led original apparently made up on the spot!


Aretha shows respect
Well-wishers 4 the NPGDC's Detroit show included the queen of soul, ARETHA FRANKLIN, who said she regretted she was out of town and would have much rather had spent the evening with The Artist and his wife...the jam was already funky, but can u imagine if ARETHA had shown up 2!?

The NPG recommends the new flick Soul Food, produced by Babyface and scored by the majestic Wendy and Lisa... so refreshing 2 c people of color in a film with a "real story" ...much flava, although we can't agree on their choice of diet (most of the food served onscreen would give the average fool much heart trouble). This is a must-c, any way u slice it!

The way 2 the world's stomach is thru the heart

Workers at food banks and mission centers in 3 states were elated when truckloads of fresh produce arrived at their doors Tuesday as a gift from someone who cares... Love4OneAnother donated $50,000 worth of fresh fruits and vegetables 2 feed those who have rare opportunity 4 a good, healthy meal. Hundreds of programs in Cleveland, Tampa and Houston have offered 2 prepare and serve the food... volunteers at one center commented how wonderful it was 2 have celery that couldn't be tied in knots, and at another, the mere sound of fresh cabbage heads squeaking 2gether kept them in stitches (they never had donations that fresh b4!). Thanx 2 the many on all ends who helped this bcome a reality.

DATELINE-NEW JERSEY - With all of the technical difficulties out of the way, GCS sent the NPG 2 FunkSchool! Coming thru the crowd playing marching drums, Larry Graham and company pounded out 45 minutes of house rockin' funk! The audience stood 4 their entire set... "Larry did that, so we'll have 2 do this!", said The Artist, and then the NPG got busy. Much love and mutual respect is shared between Larry, his wife Tina, and his wife Mayte... apparently the couples were married in the same month of February and both spent their honeymoons in Hawaii. Another afterparty offdahook! ...guests included Naughty By Nature(who r doing a track with ), Maxwell, Lenny Kravitz, Chris Rock and Brian McKnight, among others... every1's waitin' 4 the bass thumpoff between Larry and The Artist!

It may b the jam of the year, but it's also the year of love... the Love 4 One Another foundation recently gave 5-digit donations 2 4 groups around the country -- YOUTH ADVANCEMENT THROUGH MUSIC and ART in Seattle (which helps so-called "problem children" develop a promising, constructive outlook on life); the BEA GADDY FOUNDATION in Baltimore (which offers free food, job training, education and childcare 2 those in need); CLOTHE-A-CHILD in Cleveland, Ohio (which takes needy children shopping 4 their own pick of new coats, shoes and clothes); and the SMITH ROBERTSON ASSOCIATION in Jackson, Miss. (which is helping revitalize a historic inner-city district 2 bring jobs, pride and community back 2 the neighborhood). Keep spreading the love...it's contagious!

Next week, free meals 4 thousands around the US... deals r in the works 2 buy as much fresh produce as possible from farmers nationwide... local organizations will prepare the food and serve whomever is hungry, along with the thought: "a good meal from someone who loves u." This is what love is all about!

The latest buzz around town...

and Mayte spent their last afternoon 2gether (until next month, when he will join her on the NPG Dance Company's 1st tour) at the restaurant Campiello's... all was going well until a duo of bothersome bees disrupted the couple's outdoor lunch... thinks it has 2 do with his wife's nickname 4 him, "Honey." After lunch the two drove sixty miles 2 the home of the couple's farm director 4 fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit. "One of r goals with Love4oneanother is 2 build gardens in the inner city... no 1 should ever have 2 go hungry!" was overheard saying in Paisley Park.
