The way i see it, is this: That when an Artist shares his "Art" with the populations at large, he/she does so with the hope and faith that it won't be abused. No one should use someone else's Artistic Creations/Renderings for their own greedy selfish money making schemes. Artists share their "ART" with us but also trust us not to use it or make money from it illegally. If i had my own "Art" out there i wouldn't want people trying to mske money from it illegally or using it to promote an idea or philosophy that i personally didn't believe in or support. There are people out there that do bad things like that, and its those types of people that make it necessary to take Legal measures to ensure that Artists can protect their "ART" ideas and philosphies without someone else trying to twist it or use it for illegal purposes. i am happy that Prince is protecting himself. But i am sad and angry that he has to go through this negative experience in order to protect himself and his "ART" "MUSIC" and all else he does. Lets all support Prince and other Artists who are trying to protect themselves, their "ART" and in doing so all of us, because "We The People want Truth, Justice, and the Right to Protect Oourselves from Criminal Activity!" | |

Protecting your ART is different than trying to stop free speech. Prince also does not own the copyright to his image and all photos of him. Those torrent sites are the problem. Far more than YouTube will ever be. If anything, YouTube will make you want to buy something, but the torrents have it all for the taking. Movies, entire collections etc... That's pretty sad and it will get worse, especially the way they are structured now to avoid the legalities. Most of these guys don't make money from the downloads but they make a killing on the ads.
All artists should be able to protect themselves from this, but it's not a reality at this moment. In the long run, either the quality of art will suffer or the expectation of the artist will be lowered. Many of the artists of tomorrow, may not directly make money from their art, or even care about that because there will be new avenues. It's crazy times.
