Banter? Sure, I love banter. But that wasn't what u were offering. Calm? I'm very calm. Just because I called u on your trip doesn't hardly make me not "calm". Dig, if my thread was so boring, why didn't u stay off it? U must have realised this right from the get, so why even bother to post, what 50, 60 posts deep? What u "claim" as obvious, old or boring wasn't obvious, old or boring to others who posted, so...please don't be pissed that other folks on here find the thread interesting. IF u even had the 1999 album, you're probably one of the people that hadn't even noticed any of the things I was talking about on your own untill u first saw this thread. So it's easy to come in afterwards, waiting untill others posted, to add the bullshit u added. If the site has been so full of dull threads, instead of trying to knock someone's else thread, why don't u come up with your own thread and add to the forum? Or can u do that?

And I gotta say vivid, it's ironic that you're all alone with this thought, cuz if u read my other threads regarding the 1999 album, same as u will with this one, u will see folks saying the EXACT opposite of u. Ironically, u will find other's mentioning that I should write a book on the points or angles that I brought up in these threads. And this is hardly the first time that has been mentioned to me. BUT they weren't being spiteful or coming from a hateful place, like from where you were. Which makes it appears that u obviously had read these other compliments, thus prompting u to post what YOU posted.....

Yeah,I too thought he was saying "martian" lol Prince wanting to fuck a girl from Mars...how clever! wink

Yeah, that's why I used to think P was saying Martian. Also it tied in with the album cover with his name in space. But seriously, to me, with close listening, it sounds like he says Marcia.

Or maybe perhaps Martian was a way P could've linked two separate ideas with one word. A martian, something out of this world, not known, different, not from ou r settings/place which is what exactly what white people where to the black community in those times, i guess. So he could've been using martian as a metaphor for white people and/or because martian sounds like marcia (the all american white girl). Idk, i wasnt born till 89 so I'm just guessing based on my knowledge of those times, sorry i wasnt older confused
chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

Brutha B you're right..I never looked at it that way before. Sly and not even P-Funk had white females in their groups in the 70's. Rick James had Teena and a another white female back up singer in his group, but Rick didn't take it further ahead like P did.

I think that element helped him cross over even more. I remember seeing a lot of girls I knew dressing up like Wendy and Lisa after they saw the "Purple Rain" movie or concert.

B..here's a funny and crazy thought..Can you imagine if the 1977-78 KISS had Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, and Donna Summer singing backgrounds on their LP's to reach out to the black audiences? LOL.

Yeah, I knew many white girls that "became" Lisa and wendy during Purple Rain. And I also knew many white girls that were into P during the 1999 album. They related to Lisa and Jill, although she was mixed. p understood that and went after that and he got it. But yeah, Gene is the only one that I can see doing that. Especially since he and Donna were uh,...close.

u can add me to the list for 1999. prince slept over my bed for years back then nod nod

That's exactly what I said! And what is 'ironic' about having my own opinion on your thread? Please inform. Oh, and I bought 1999 the day it came out. And once again I wasn't being 'hateful' - that is a strong feeling for some bloke I don't know on a pop star's message board.

If I'm in such a minority then why you worrying? mov
