The Truth Or Planet Earth

One Prince album I that really doesn't do much for me is The Truth.

I think Planet Earth is a fantastic album and so I was wondering as Planet Earth often gets knocked and The Truth is normally only mentioned when people want to praise it which album most orgers prefer.

Neither.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

i wore "the truth" out when i first heard it.it was so different from most of the other albums p has put out.unlike "planet earth" which is pretty much same old, same old,not that i don't like it too."the truth" is just much better in terms of songwriting and creativity and such.i don't know why people badmouth p's 90s fare.sure it wasn't his greatest period(the 80s,of course).there were some weaker efforts but at least he was challenging himself and trying different things.he was at his most loose creatively at this time and usually some grace broke through with "the truth","the gold experience" and a few others.tons of great songs(released and otherwise).but i'm beside my point, sorry."the truth" is much better than "planet earth" imho.both are good though.
For all time I am with you, you are with me.

The Truth is a great album. It's the only P album of the nineties that I regularly listen to.

Planet Earth has some fun moments but there is nothing great about it, in my opinion - at times it's embarassing.

The Truth, so unique and interesting to listen to,from stripped down brilliance like "don't play me" to interesting melody lead songs like "circle of amour" and "Dionne" to personal i.e "comeback" and "one of your tears" and the funky "man in a uniform", its an awesome album, only the first two songs are properly acoustic so don't let the "Acoustic album"tag put you off

planet earth..
the truth could have been great, but was ruined by little extra production features which ruined the vibe.
all i want is a straight up acoustic cd..the truth had too many tricks.
Wouldn't you love to love me?

Planet Earth is alright, but I'd be lying if I didn't way it was a bit of a let-down. The only standout track is Chelsea Rodgers IMO.

Animal Kingdom aside, The Truth kicks Planet Earth's ass all around the block. nod

The Truth is great. Even Animal Kingdom is sort of wonderfully bad. Planet Earth is just mediocre altogether.

The Truth remains the last Prince album that I really give a fuck about. Much overlooked piece of work.

"1997 was an interesting Paisley year. Prince recorded The Truth, and we compiled the Crystal Ball. Those two were eventually lumped together in one big helping of Funkitude, which is unfortunate, because I think The Truth would have been a fine individual album. Some of the outtakes from that one were pretty spectacular, too. By the way, the single The Truth/Don't Play Me (minus the keyboard overdubs) was recorded as you hear it on the CD - in one ten-minute session, in sequence, vocals and all."-hans martin buff
