Prince: 6 degrees of separation

I guess you all know that 6 degrees of separation concept. So i was wondering is it true when it comes to Prince...are we only 6 people away from him?

I havent done much research on myself in that matter but i guess it might be true as after some thinking i came up with the 2 routes i can go on that:

1. i did my masters in Africana Studies at SUNY, Albany, and the super wonderful dept.secretary there once worked closely with Toni Morrison who in turn is a good friend of Oprah's who knows almost everybody smile (so P is like 3-4 people away)

2. at my last work i have a privilege of meeting Sen. Patric Leahy and his amazing wife, who my boss is friends with...so i guess Pat Leahy (who simply rocks - i have sooo much respect for this guy!) might know a few people who might know somebody who knows P smile

so here's my '6 degrees'....what are yours? (i guess for the Minneapolis people that one would be tooo eazy smile
Thanx!

I have a fellow Witness friend who has a niece who's family is related to Prince.
I had another fellow Witness who once lived in Minneapolis and knows some of the friends that went to Prince's congregation back in Minnesota.
I have another friend who grew up in Minnesota and went to one of Prince's clubs back in the eighties and saw him. He was watching women to find as dancers, but she says he didn't notice her lol

Me->Ashton Kutcher->Ethan Suplee->Kevin Smith->Prince

I went to school with Ashton (formerly known as Chris Kutcher). Ashton worked with Ethan in the movie The Butterfly Effect. Ethan was in Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma & Clerks II with Kevin Smith and Kevin Smith did some unreleased documentary for Prince. Ta da!

mushy Aw, I feel so close to him now.

OK - my brother met this photographer back in '91 who was best friends with the girl who played "Pearl" from D&P. (That's already just 4 degrees...), When he finallytoured Oz ('92) this photographer (Jeff Katz, I think) joined the entourage coz P was trying him out or something (or "PearL' got hima free ticket...). ANyway, he had 2 tix every night and noone to go with, so he took my brothers and I each in like 6th row (the tix I had bought at teh box office were LAST row). So, I guess that makes it 3 degrees, no?

i think a 'degree' in this concept is actually a person - so u need to really know a person (a relative, a freind, a co-worker, a partner, an acquaintance) to qualify him/her as a degree....otherwise i'd be crazy close to P too since:

i live in the States and so does P (well at least some of the times he does:)

my hubby is an African-American and so is P smile

i am a vegetarian and so is P smile

Tora - I guess you didn't read the posts last November. I went to his first 3121 concert in Las Vegas, and when he walked to the back of the audience to hug Mayte, I just couldn't help myself. I got a lot of flack about it - as if I molested him or something. Well, I also got a lot of people saying "You go, Girl!" But he didn't stop me, and it was one of the best moments of my life. He had on a white leather jacket - no shirt underneath. HOT and dreamy.

This is an interesting subject... I hope that you continue to start more threads!

Well, the best I got is... I saw him in concert and there were only several people standing in front of me, a little more than 6 but...

Yeah, I know, that was lame but that's all I have! razz

He looked at me and smiled (he was smiling at everyone though) as he walked by. So I started reaching out slowly as he went by, and no one stopped me. I'm telling you, I'm so glad I did it.My idol, my hero, my ultimate sexy musician .. that I've been in love with for 25 years ...and I got to look into his beautiful brown eyes and touch his heavenly chest.cloud9 drool3
My boyfriend was a few people away, and he reached up to grab Prince's hand, and the boydyguard slapped my boyfriend's hand away.
It was an amazing concert. Second only to the one we went to at the Roosevelt in LA. At that one, he sang Somewhere Here on Earth b/4 the cd was released, and I was in the cheapo crowd (the $300 tix instead of $3,000) so I was standing, while everyone in front of me was sitting. I was in front and center of all the standing people, so to me, he sang that song right to me because he was standing about 100 feet away, with no people standing between us. I bawled like a true fan. I felt silly, but so good too.

I met at a couple of JW's once.
Well, actually,
I yelled at them thru the little window on my front door to get the hell offa my lawn.
But the way I figger it,
that was probably enough to bring the degrees of seperation between me & Prince down to 2.

Hell,
we practically know each other.

I'm pretty close actually:

A former singer in my band was also in the Sydney production of "The Lion King" (c.2000), which featured a couple of young Twinz who now work for you-know-who...

cool

Hi,

My connection is Me -Hospital Receptionist-Prince.

About a couple of years ago in New Orleans,My momma went to the local hospital in the city to the emergency room.Ihad to go and speak to the hospital medical receptionist and give her information about my mother.Well we started talking and she was telling me how she was originally from Minnesota. So of course I brought up Prince being from Minneapolis. She started smiling and telling me how she went to high school with Prince. She kept gushing as she was typing-on how Prince gave her an invitation to a party. She explained to me that inthose days Prince and his band would perform for street parties or block parties for the neighborhood, and she was invited to one by Prince. She said he was really a sweet and nice person.
Wow hearing her tell me this really made my day.

My friend's father (who I've met) was in two Michael Jackson videos ("Dirty Diana" and "The Way You Make Me Feel") and Michael's met Prince.
There's my connection!
Plus I'm just one away from MJ now!
