not sure how or if it can be regarded as a flop, it was certainly a marketing masterpiece, especially in the UK

however, one thing it can be regarded as is shit...played it once then felt like trying to get my £1.50 I spent on the crappy newspaper refunded
Guitar was the only half decent track on there....and 20 years ago, that wouldn't have been good enough to make it as a B-side

Let's not kid ourselves...the album was a flop lol

If this was any other artist,we'd have no difficulty calling it a "flop".An album that only sells around 300,000 copies in the States is generally considered a flop. But I don't think Prince really cares either way.

Yeah! You all label MJ's Invincible, which reached #1 and the top 5 of the charts around the world and sold 2 mio copies in the US and 11 mio worldwide, a flop (and don't bring up the tired argument of how much it did cost to produce), but most of you can't admit that, after the Grammy's, the Musicology album and tour, 3121 being a #1 album and the Superbowl, PE is a major flop! It came and went and nobody really took notice of it... except the people going to his concerts!

No one gives a damn what those lyrics say. The music might be good. But, the fact of the matter is, the premise and theme of the whole damn song (Lyrics, especially.) is hypocrisy on top of hypocrisy.
