LEAVE MY PEOPLE ALONE! Awww crap...there goes my chance at a sticky. Out of curiosity, I have two versions of this song, one by Prince, one by somebody else. I have no clue really where they came from, I don't remember... For the one by "someone else" it's mislabeled. It shows the song and the artist being Van Gogh. Can anybody shed light on who else recorded this? "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. I have no clue really where they came from, I don't remember... For the one by "someone else" it's mislabeled. It shows the song and the artist being Van Gogh. Can anybody shed light on who else recorded this? A song was originally composed by Sandra St Victor called 'Love Is'. The song was included on a tape given by St Victor to Prince at a time when they were considering collaborating. Prince worked considerably on this piece and the resultant song was 'Van Gogh'. He gave the song to the group, 'Van Gogh, which they released on their album, 'Van Gogh' in 1998. Their song was an interpretation of Prince's recording and they reworked elements of the composition. Prince's recording was subsequently made available through NPGMC subscription in 2001. When released, it was titled, at least originally, 'Van Gough', which may have been a typo. Sandra St Victor's original composition used to be available at her own website (along with other songs she shared with Prince) at: http://www.sandrastvictor.com/ but this is now under reconstruction. Meanwhile she has a Myspace site at: http://www.sandrastvictor.com/ where you can still hear her original version of what became 'Soul Sanctuary' Here's a link to Van Gogh's website: http://www.vangoghmusic.com/ You can still order the album from the site The mp3 download is a mix of Van Gogh's tracks and has a sample of the song, 'Van Gogh', from 3'40 ('introduce me to your demons') through to 4' 19". . Do you know who was in Van Gogh, former P collaborators, or unrelated entirely? Also, didn't know that Sandra also worked on Soul Sanctuary. I hate the song, but I'm surprised at how much she's done with Prince and I've never heard of her. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Amazing how many great and deserving artists get zero recognition, while the easy to market clean up. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Van Gogh comprise brothers Rob and Ricky Heisner - unrelated to Prince or any project of his. Only connection is the song he gave to them which bore the name of the band.
