Some punctuation would be helpful. I got lost mid-sentence. "For those who know the number and don't call...Fuck all y'all"

SpecialEd said: Mindflux said: Indeed - but, often Prince songs are not that specific in detail, allowing more than one interpretation to be reached and it would be a challenge for any lyricist to lever "Pfeiffer Syndrome" in to a verse. Furthermore, he's not actually talking about what the actual reason was, in my view. There are 2 ways to look at this; either, it is "never said" because its not discussed or, more likely, he is simply saying whether it is "wrong or right", (he doesn't say there is no reason, just whether or not the reason was right) alluding to the fact that, certainly with his beliefs, everything has a reason, it is God's will after all. But, how can you find any right reason for an innocent child to die? In as much as some people have their faith shaken when there are such things as natural disasters (Hurricance Annie ripped the ceiling off a church and killed everyone inside). If there is a caring, just God, many people question as to why he would allow such tragedies to take place. [Edited 11/2/07 11:10am] Ha yeah I was just being literal. Prince surely is asking gods why the skull fused prematurely as if theres a puppeteer pulling strings somewhere. Yeh it's funny being coarse & literal about a mans baby dying isnt it??

To be honest, I never considered the potential context of this song until reading this thread. It does make perfect sense now.
Although, it is expertly written to apply as a simple love song about loss of a partner, yet double up as a very profound & insightful song about the subject we now believe it was actually about. I really love this song, "gizmos" & all. It was my anthem 4 the loss of my 1st love. I think only the dead of heart can fail to feel somthing from this song.
