We all know how he is about rights to his intellectual work.
He created it and so he does not want anyone mis-appropriating it
He is still a genius musician and no matter what he does, people will still flock to his shows because he really is that good.

I LOVE the way he is and acts. all genius do that kind of thing, nonsense.

Don't really care bout his personal life, as long as the music still flows from the man, that's all I need

To me it's same stuff different day. He's been doing this sort of thing for a while now. Everyone is still a fan. Nothing's changed.

SUe someone/Shut down a site....everyone gets upset

toss out a new song or a video ...everyone calms down.

I think it's going to hurt him, and probably already has.
It's not going to mean a thing to the die-hards, who will buy anything he puts out regardless.

But the the majority/casual fans, stuff like this is going to float around in their heads, and they're going to steer away from buying his stuff.

Considering, that Planet Earth hasn't even been out that long and it's ALREADY off of the Billboard charts, i'd say it's already having an effect.

sorry pplrain but this is more about misappropriation. when he demands takedown of tatoos...that is about control. when he demands take down of album cover art...that is about control. how is dipslaying a picture of the album cover when documenting his musical works misappropriating or even injuring him in any way? hell, its FREE PROMOTION.

I think that this question on where he should tour next is a little odd, considering he said he was taking a break after London. I would definitely say that this year was too much "rhyme without the reason" for me - I think he should do what he says and give it a rest. I didn't even know James Brown was still touring at 70 years old until it was announced that he died. I still love the stuff I have always loved by him, but I think the train ride is coming to a halt for me, fan-wise. Then again, I sold off and put in storage all the music I own except for 60 or so albums that are my essential collection.

If there is one celebrity who is willing to mess it all up for what he believes, it's Prince.

I don't have an opinion on the whole youtube thing - I really don't care, but Prince will do exactly what he feels he should. He seriously loves to be in control.

A lot of us have been here before with the whole name change thing. Prince is Prince and always will be (although he clearly wasn't always).

He's made enough cash in the last few years to see him through another lean period. You never know, if his popularity plummets once again, he might actually make a good album.

He never based his life upon what others think. OK - Here's what I think... When Prince started all of these 'take downs' on the sites I think it was a way of clearing the decks for his new official releases. It feels to me like he didn't want people looking at all of the unofficial stuff because he wants everyone to come look at this new videos etc. I personally think that this will all die down again in a couple of months and you'll all be able to download the stuff that was taken down again as it starts to creep back onto the net.
