His latest protégé "Tamar" is featured on the "Black Sweat" video.

that is not Tamar in the BlackSweat vid ..

Don't quote Erb_Avore as moi, without even seeing a Tamar concert I know her from Celestina. Nor do I see I&C as P's best song since 1984 at that...

WHUR doesn't count. They play almost anything. When WGCI in Chicago plays it, that's when it becomes a hit...ask Justin Timberlake

Yeah riiiight...

That's true. "Until The End of Time" wasn't even being considered as a single unitl WGCI added it in regular rotation and became a BIG hit in Chicago. They have broken MANY hits over the years...as a matter of face, most Urban AC stations across the country look to WGCI to see what they are playing.

Wow? Please elaborate.

WGCI started playing this song back in the Spring. The listeners fell in love with it and they added it to regular rotation. Mind you, it still wasn't a single, nor was the record company going to promote it as a single.

Well, after WGCI added the song in regular rotation, other stations across the country started adding it. Sony saw that the song was testing well with Urban AC audiences then asked Beyonce to re-record the song as a duet to make the song more appealing to the mainstream urban audience. She did, and the song is a big hit.

WGCI has a long history of breaking many urban hits. They were one of the first to break Maxwell, R. Kelly, and others. Now, these people are huge urban music stars.

Interesting. Sounds like we need to pay special attention to this station when any new songs are released.

I really happen to like that song, the music is great, the vocal delivery is cool, the vocoder voise doesn´t bother me at all. The only thing I hate about it is the lyrical content, this whole " I want to do it but then again not but maybe I will do it but not tonight but I really feel like doing it but we better not do it but if you take your clothes off I might really, really do it but then again maybe not but with me you never know because I´m really horny but I know we should not do it because we´re sinners if we do it but hey you and I know it would be great if we did it.."
It´s really the lyrical content I have a problem with, not the haunting, mesmerizing beat and infectious melody. It´s contemporary but still Prince.

That song is an absolute sellout shit hop embarassing mess.

no no no!

I disagree. hmph!

I thought it was a showcase of Prince versatality. If Kayne West or some neo soul artist had recorded it they would have said it was revoluntionary etc.

But because it was Prince... it got panned.

To me it sounds like Neo soul than hip hop

Personally it ranks amoung my fav Prince songs period. It was IMO the second best track on 3121 behind The Dance (v2) I know a lot of fans want to say its a bad song... but simply saying it doesn't qualify to make a song bad... esp when others like it.

But ehhh... around these parts anything Prince makes which has a contemporary R&B flavor to it is considered crap by the 'experts' rolleyes

I would put money on the fact that if you polled people who considered I&C crap... they probably considered songs from Planet Earth like Mr. Goodnight and/or Future Baby Mama crap as well.

I respect people for thier opinions... when stated justly and validly so... but those who crap on the song and try to crap on others enjoyment of a song simply because they don't like it... well... that's a different story

I&C is crap, there is no doubt about it. P trying to be "hip" has never worked.

However I&C is better than anything on PE.

OK, I take that back, I&C is really bad, I was just proving a point that however bad it is, PE is worse. Maybe FBM is acceptable, but Mr.Goodnight isnt, this is my opinion. FBM sounds like a 3121 outtake..

Its not a bad song but it's nothing special. Its one of only 2 songs on 3121 that I tend to skip. Still love me some 3121 though!
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I like Incense & Candles.

Part of being a Prince fan is laughing at how ridiculous he is while enjoying the music immensely, and that song captures both feelings perfectly.
