Glad to see so much praise for ONA. Seems like a lot of folks were slagging it off when it first came out. It's definitely another great CD from the man. smile

I like them both very much, but I'd go with ONA.

I wonder what many of you people think since the truth is an acoustic album and one nite alone being a piano album. Personally I dug the truth because it's exiting and something you can groove to. My fave track is Welcome 2 the dawn. Is there a regular version to that because it says acoustic version. I just thought I'd ask that question as well.

I love "The Truth". It's, urm, truly exceptional. I also saw him play that short acoustic set on the October 5th gig and "Don't Play Me" was exceptional and had me running back to listen to the original. "One Nite Alone" is very good though.

The Truth. Tho the title track always sounded like a tracy chapman ripoff to me. The stuff in the middle is a trip, and a pleasant change of pace for Prince.

I'm not following. What's the fascination with ONA? I can find nothing outstanding about it. Bare bones...yeah oh kay.

The Truth. Lyrically awesome. The simplicity of it. The harmony of his voice on the tracks.

ONA sounds incomplete. There's no true substance. Its raw and untrained. They sound like they should be for his personal enjoyment. Though, I'll admit Here on Earth has mad emotion and substance.

Okay, okay. The answer: THe TRUTH.

Here's how it is for..

Firstly, When eye first heard the title track to ONA.. eye was in question, cause eye couldnt fully get in2 it.. and eye kept wondering if this song is gonna be special to me or not.. cause at the time eye couldnt tell, it turned out to be on of my favorite (New) songs by him.. and the rest of the cd is good, but eye can honestly say, The Truth is holds more weight. wink

Meaning, The Truth is above it, but that title track to ONA keeps it on its toes:)

The Truth by a million miles! Stunning from the word go - The title track, Don't Play Me, Other Side Of The Pillow, Comeback, just being highlights.

The only song which I really feel on ONA is A Case Of You - and that's not his. - It is a nice enough album I guess, but a bit whimsical, with no balls.

I love them both. The Truth is a great acoustic album and One Nite Alone is very intimist.I think I might need some time to "explore" and appreciate One Nite Alone a little bit more and to decide which one is better...

The truth wins. The songs on The Truth are much better developed (ie. proper songs), instead of the more demo-like efforts on ONA.

15 or so years ago, a Prince "demo" might have been something cool like "Cookie Jar" or "Pink Cashmere". Nowdays it just means something lousy or rushed.

I agree ONA has all the energy and excitement of two old ladies playing checkers... its weak. But if u like slow dinner music to fart along to.. then I guess its better music for the leg bombers. fart

The truth is much much more. Alot of creativity, fun and oh man how can you compare the two??

He's saying so much in this gem. The lyrics were written during a time when he really had something with substance to say. Its magic!
