the prince I like the least. Parade is better!

To me, Parade seems better, and I actually like it more now, because it was less ubiquitous. Had Parade blown up, I think I'd tout it less than I do now.

But I spun both of those records until they fell apart.

Bad acting??? Where???...geez - same shit said bout UTCM. They are both on my top 5 movie list (2gether with Trainspotting, Wild at heart & Goodfellas, and a bunch mo actually). And nooooo I'm not fanatic biggrin Anyhow, with those soundtracks - Purple Rain and Parade - Prince could more or less have been sleeping all thru the movie, they'd still b masterpieces in my (purple) world.

Are taking the piss? I mean, I don't think Purple Rain is a shit film, but it does have to be judged in the musical/made by musicians category. Watch it next to any Elvis or Madonna film and it's really fucking good. Watch it after Goodfellas (the film, not the pizza ad) and it's really not that good. But it IS the best music video ever made. But why can't the bass be as formidable on the record as it is on the DVD?

lol

Well...the quality of a movie is one thing - the pleasure of seeing a movie is another. 2 b honest I am judging movies from 2 different perspectives in my top5. I simply love PR - the music, the oh so 80ies story, the hair, the styles, the jokes - just looking af Prince! UTCM - gets me ova the hill of thrill evry single time I c it. Prince is absolutely gorgeous! The scenary is magnificent, the jokes are fun. So much about this movie is misunderstood if U ask me! The music is exceptional! (Reminds me Squirrely...hasn't it been a long time since the last time we saw it??? biggrin). So these 2 movies gives me so much joy - and I heart them.... 4 just that. The quality movies....well I also enjoy 2 watch a good movie - with good directing, good actors, consistent stories, intelligently cut and so forth - even when Prince is not in it wink. Goodfellas is a good example (4 me). A looong reply....I just love movies biggrin
Feels so good it must b a crime...

Where was "Superfly" on the list? confused That along with "Purple Rain" and "Saturday Night Fever" are the best soundtracks ever IMO. Also glad to see "The Harder They Come" on there. It's about time reggae artists other than Bob Marley got some recognition.
[Edited 10/24/07 13:44pm]

I heard "Superfly" was number six. Does anyone have the list? Did any other Prince sountracks make it...I think the only other one that could possibly get mentioned is "Parade". Howard Stern was actually raving about "Purple Rain" and also said that "Batman" was a great soundtrack and played some clips...everyone disagreed!

Now excuse me, I'm going back to find my Maxell mixtape with "Roxanne's Revenge," "8 Million Stories," "All Night Long," "True" and "Take Me With U."

I call it my Fresh-Man mix.

Well I guess the recent DVD special edition was remixed for 5.1 and hence is a better listening experience than the record although if memory serves me right, I remember that the sound on the VHS was fuller and more sensational than the vinyl record.

Which reminds me...for those in the UK (where, obviously, 2007 has been a Prince bonanza of a year), the 2-DVD Purple Rain is now available for a mere £3.99 at HMV.
