This aspect of God, one of his ten attributes (Sefirot), at its lowest manifestation has an affinity with the realm of evil and it is out of this that Lilith merged with Samael.

An alternative story links Lilith with the creation of luminaries. The "first light", which is the light of Mercy (one of the Sefirot), appeared on the first day of creation when God said "Let there be light" This light became hidden and the Holiness became surrounded by a husk of evil.” A husk (q'lippa) was created around the brain" and this husk spread and brought out another husk, which was Lilith.[54]

I posted a thread with this same question a couple weeks ago and it got moved to P&R. Basically, you'll get two responses: 1) because Adam and Eve never existed (duh) and 2) there weren't any other options. But I do like the "because they were made for each other" idea. Maybe that was what Prince meant.

Thank you for posting the above, i didn't know that, but i am glad i do now. i know only a little about the Kabbalah and i didn't like it.However, it is good to know how others believe and think.

Adam was formed from the dust of the ground. He was basically a lifeless shell until God brought him alive with his "Breath of Life." We will return to dust when God removes his life giving breath.

Eve was made of Adam's flesh and bone. Are you wondering why Eve wasn't made from dust as was Adam? God is showing us that when a man and a woman are married they "symbolically" become one flesh. Marriage is a mystical union of the couple's hearts and lives. The goal of marriage is more than friendship, it is ONENESS.

Basically, if they are ONE,they could never leave each other as they are joined for life.

I always took that line to mean Adam had an obligation to be loyal to Eve.
