But there's not a thing you can do about it! Yes,but please Prince

I got to see him 7 times this summer at the 21 night O2 tour, he seemed sweet when I saw him at the gate. He did an amazing version of The Beautiful Ones. Theres an acoustic version of Love now on 3121. We can buy quite a few DVDs online and in shops. I think hes not selfish at all, he just lives his life the way he wants to like we all should.

You guys can try and paste around the facts as much as possible.
I dont see any other major artists trying to get videos taken off video sharing sites, MJ, Justin, Usher etc. Why does Prince think he is better than everybody else? Too 'good' to have his vids free of charge to anybody across the globe, its not just selfish, its INCREDIBLY stupid. He is now missing out on a potentially huge audience because he has chosen to do this, Prince has always had the repuation of not being the nicest guy in the business and this kind of crap just proves that to me. Im sorry, but he comes across as an complete moron when he does stuff like this.

I guess everybody on the damn planet are 'selfish' then, cause not a lot of people work for free. You seem to forget that making music is Prince's day job. Would be the same thing if you worked at the office ten hours every day for free. You and me both know that shit ain't happening. I couldn't agree more, brother. This is a business, even if it don't look like one. Exactly!

Only this week, Prince posted an acoustic version of one of his songs which streams for free. No payment required. Whether you're a fan or not. If you want to watch some of his videos for free, visit a site which streams them and pays the appropriate payments for broadcasting the material such as Yahoo Launch. Even YouTube hosts authorised material including one video by Prince - no viewing payment required. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

personally I think if he would do a compilation of the vids where people could buy them maybe there wouldn't be such a need to view them on the computer

Prince goes crazy over YouTube baby
Prince's latest legal smackdown finds our lil' litigant demanding the removal of a seemingly innocuous home video posted on YouTube...a video in which an 18 month old baby bounces and sways to the 1984 hit "Let's Go Crazy". Is it a case of Princely principles or "Prince, please!"? I told you he is Selfish! So...Prince himself is scouring the internet looking for stuff that violates his copyright. Then I guess it stands to reason that he peruses this site as well. In that case... Mr. Nelson, I have a few things that I need to say to you! I think you are being a selfish twit! I understand and condone the need to protect your work from people that are profiting off of it such as bootleggers. However, this blanket removal of everything from the internet that has even the smallest connection to you is RIDICULOUS! You are not just protecting your rights. You are burying your legacy! The very reason that you are now in a position to even be concerned about your rights is because of people like myself (your fans) who have supported you throughout the years! Had it not been for the efforts of your fans sharing their love for the music that you make and your talent amongst themselves and with others who were put off by your attitude, appearance or other bad business practices, you would not have lasted as long as you have. You'd have fallen by waste side like so many other very talented musical artists who did not have such a diverse and dynamic fan base to support them during the hard times! I sincerely hope that you read this post and take from it, it's intent. To make you realize that we aren't trying to hurt you, we just want to have some fun! Let us have our fun! You're the one that put that in us or are you so far gone that you can't remember that? I've been a fan of yours for 29 years, through the good, the bad and the what hell was he thinking and now I feel like it's all been for nothing because you are showing me that you couldn't care less about your fans. I don't like feeling this way and I sincerely hope you fix this mess before you have nothing but a handful of fans left. Respectfully, Your Fan (for now anyway) Mrs. Danielle Dillard Berkley, MI

I wanted to keep it simple, that didn't work. Excuse me my language mistakes.
Prince has moved mountains to become who he has become. In the beginning with the help of others. They fucked him and then he had to do it himself. Having his own dark demons it must have been difficult too. He seems like a very focused and controlling guy. His music is what he is, does he have anything else? I've witnessed plenty concerts. With the exception of one in Cologne, Germany (1998) he has always been passionate towards his fans. And he still is. Just his new music hasn't got the power it used to have. Big deal, he's been at the top for many many years. And the line that if it wasn't for us fans there would be no Superstar Prince. It works 2 ways. He is talented as hell and he managed to take our interest for a lot of years. One cannot be inspired forever. If he wasn't that good we wouldn't have become "fans" in the first place. He earned it fairly. There are plenty of "artists" with no fans. How come that? Because they just suck! And the ones that suck but are still called "artists" have a huge battery of promoters behind them. They are influenced and have no input themselves. They are made for money purpose. Prince is probably the largest artist that has been boycotted through the years. Here in Europe the last 10 years you just don't hear or see any Prince. It's since the last years and the Earth tour in London he's back on track a little. Why, because he wanted to do it himself without these bloodsucking leeches and they just said "Prince, screw you, we'll show you who's the boss". I think him wanting to have some control of YouTube and the picture issue is partly because of malignant growth. He has money enough, these vids being for free has got nothing to do with money. More a principle matter of owning his own stuff.

I hear what everyone is saying...I know this is a business, but music videos are all about publicity, and if he is truly behind this fiasco then he is only hurting himself. Youtube has its faults (what doesn't) but it is an easy way for people have access to any random thing; so if someone thinks enough of Prince to type in his name and watch one of his videos, he should be happy that somebody gives a damn. How many of you reading this post started liking an artist because you saw one of their videos and then fell in love with their music. I know most of you have been listening to P for almost 30 years, but their is a whole new fanbase out their now with access to the internet, so watching the "When Doves Cry" video or whatever might light the spark to make them buy some of his albums down the line. So if he or his record label whoever want to 'nickel and dime' over a couple vidoes on YouTube, then their just screwing themselves over in the long run. As long as their not 'misusing' his material, then leave it alone; you can't police the world, or the world wide web. [Edited 10/31/07 4:56am] Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!
