Remember the joy of trying to find out which songs Prince wrote on associated artist albums?

I remember going through the credits and looking at the different publishing labels. Of course everyone knew CONTROVERSY MUSIC, but it took a while to figure out that anything published by GIRLSONGS, PARISONGS, TIONNA MUSIC, and later of course NPG publishing was pretty much a Prince-composed track. Even knowing he had written songs under different pseudonyms was exciting. He a lot of times never listed his name, but produced by PAISLEY PARK was pretty much a given. Ah, the good old days of hunting down Prince-composed music... smile

After listening to Michael Koppleman discuss working with Prince during the Graffiti Bridge, Diamonds and Pearls and prince era, he brought out the fact that Prince didn't always write the material for things listed as "Paisley Park" or produced by "Paisley Park".

He said that Prince had a team of producers and writers that he had in house that worked under him. Most of the music was written by P, but not all of it. That is why Tony M. sued him in the late 90s for back royalities. He claimed that NPG Publishing didn't give him proper royalities for his contributions to the prince album as well as the other projects.
