Gold Nigga

I have an opportunity to buy this off someone i know, He's asking £25 ($40ish) for it.Is Prince heavily involved on it or is it a Tony M Yawnathon?

Worth the $ or not?

TRON

It's not bad for collector's purposes but I wouldn't shell out 25 bones for it.

i got my copy last year from NPGMC. It was available for about a week in March 2001 for $15 (+ $15 S&H)

It was the second edition,though.
Anyone knows why they pulled away track 2 (Guess who's knockin')?

Those were the Napster days and all the versions I downloaded of that song (and there were lots )had a 2 or 3 seconds silence break with no apparent reason
so I ended up thinking it was a mastering failure and that had been the reason for the drop out

Yeah the version without 'Guess Who's Knockin',goes for £50,WITH 'Guess Who's Knockin' is worth a cool £100-according to Record Collector Magazine!

they pulled the song due to similarities to mccartney's song of similar title. wink

That's a lot of money.

I found mine on Ebay, the original and complete version, for $25.00. I've seen more go for around that price too.

Yeah, it's an OK album.
only really worth it from a collectors point of view.
best tracks;
Black MF In The House
Johnny
2gether

Guess Who's Knockin' was indeed pulled from the album
because the chorus borrowed heavily from Paul McCartney's
"Let 'Em In".

I was lucky enough to find this in a used CD store for $5 (the 2nd version)! A year earlier I bought 'Exodus' at the same store for the same price. Somebody obviously didn't like these NPG albums!

it's a great funky album for me. "guess who's knockin'" was later dropped because it contains a sample of a beatles or a mccartney song and sir paul threatened with suing. that's why the first edition is a rarity. at first both the album and "2gether" maxi-cd were available at the official merchandise stands on the ACT II tour around the end of the tour (i bought mine at the wembley arena).

by the way, i got one of the original edition cd's for sale, along with most of my prince cd collection. e-mail me in case you are interested at ivdf@davidbowie.com

I think it's a good CD but agree that £25 is too expensive. Johnny and Hallucination Rain are great trax.

"hallucination rain" if from the "exodus" npg album (95), not "goldnigga" (93).
