"One last request before Prince retires...." - concert genius!

This is for the true Prince fans that have been around before "04" (the year of the "Beyonce Grammy Renaissance"...)

If I had Prince's "ear" - I think this idea would be the perfect solution to give the "die-hard" Prince fans what they want to hear. It would also market him to the next generation of fans. All I ask of this post is that if one of his "people" agrees with my vision...that he let me witness firsthand the result.(come on guys..this concert would be bad ass!)

Let's start this off by stating that I have seen Prince perform a dozen times since 1992. In college, I was reintroduced to the genius of Prince's music, and since then, I have been a "die hard" fan. I present my version of what Prince's next move should be next below...

Since Prince's age is starting to become an issue,(even though I think he can be a force for years to come)I think a concert with a ticket price of $60 - for the opportunity of hearing 60 minutes of historic guitar prowess, would be pure genius! -

60 minutes, no filler, no bullshit, just jams...give the fans what they want...and you'll have the most profitable concert of all time...

This is what I would play for one hour...

GUITAR: 0:01-2:35 - Lose the last verse, open with a "FU"

ENDORPHINMACHINE: 2:50(to give a 15 seond solo) - 2:36-5:02

BAMBI(Undertaker version): 4:06 -9:08

TAKE A MOMENT TO ADDRESS THE AUDIENCE - "BREATHE" - next

JOY IN REPITITION: 1:00-10:46 - 19:54

FURY: 1:4:00 (SNL VERSION) - 23:54

ALWAYS IN MY HAIR: 2:30 - 26:26

I LIKE IT THERE: 1:25 - 27:56

TAKE ME WITH YOU: 1:25 - 29:24

ALPHABET ST:(ONAL) 1:43 - 31:06

YOU GO TTHE LOOK: 1:47 - 31:53

STRANGE RELATIONSHIP:(ONA) 1:56 - 33:49

WHEN YOU WERE MINE? (ONA) 1:3:20 - 38:44

ANOTHER HOLE IN YOUR HEAD(SB VERSION); 1:4:26 - 43:10

BEST OF YOU: (SB) 1-2:15 - 45:25

PURPLE RAIN: (SB) - 14:45 - STRAIGHT JAMS

I know I forgot a bunch...but I would pay triple to witness a show like this...what you think?

This "I am owed something by Prince because I was a fan before 2004" is pretty tiresome don't you think? Your not owed anything by Prince and if people got into him post 2004...great,,and so what? How would it be the most profitable concert of all time?..please explain?

Prince's age being an issue is absolutely nonsense, he just played 21 Nights in London with some truly fierce guitar (plus countless aftershows)..how is age an issue?

I actually think you need to get over this strange obsessed and get out more

Just my opinion!

prince does not have to worry about age or audience.
some of this summers aftershows were the best shows by anyone i have ever seen, and the main concerts allowed me to introduce a new crowd to the genius that is purple. prince is a musician through and through so even if he retires he will still play and perform somewhere, and continue to inprove.

I think you've given the specifics of this post way, way too much thought.

Just make yourself a playlist of exactly everything you've mentioned here, and enjoy the hell out of it (put it on loop & repeat). And there ya go.

I was at the O2 to listen to Prince however he wanted to entertain me; and he did!

What you call filler; bullshit , gave me a chance to experience what he was feeling, and I loved every minute.

It was nice of you to take the time to make this suggestion. Ultimately,
Prince runs his show.

that setlist is way too rock-heavy. you included pretty much every heavy guitar rock song he's ever done, and little to no funk or soul stuff

Relax man, Prince doesn't owe us long time fans anything, it's just a request!(the pre-Beyonce thing was just a chance to dig at the people that jumped on the bandwagon late)

I mentioned age because even though he still rocks, he HAS slowed down a bit(when is the last time you seen him doing splits?) I just want to see him do a full out guitar show before he's doing sit down only shows!

As for profitable concert of all time...a $60 for 60 minutes concert would garner a TON of free press, and in the time he does one show & one after show, he could put on 6 of these things that would sell out each night - almost like charging $360 for every seat in the house...

I already have and it's fantastic! It only took a little over a hour of listening to some kick ass Prince music to compile. Highly recommended!

I'm glad you got to expierence what he was feeling, and I have done so as well a ton of times, but what I call "filler & bullshit"(OK bullshit might be a harsh word for it) is the Maceo, Larry Graham, Candy Dulfer, etc; solos that go on in his typical shows to give himself a breather. While these musicians are fantastic, and hearing them play is a treat, I came to see Prince rock a guitar, not a 10 minute keyboard solo by Renato...

That is pretty much the point of the whole post...

I've seen the funk & soul - love it, but 60 minutes of him rocking out would be a slice of heaven.

The show you seek is the 28th August 2007 at the Indigo2. Just Prince with his guitar,a drummer and a bass player.

Plus it was just over an hour and only about $50!!!

What is this bandwagon your talking about? and why dig at people who got into his music because of his performance with Beyonce?

Never heard such rubbish, who cares if he doesn't do the splits anymore..how does that affect his performance? Sit down shows indeed..methinks your talking out of your backside.

And?

and in the time he does one show & one after show, he could put on 6 of these things that would sell out each night - almost like charging $360 for every seat in the house...

So he performs 6 shows a night for how many nights?...I can't see that making him rich..21 nights at the O2 arena with 21,000 a night..now were talking real money.

While these musicians are fantastic, and hearing them play is a treat, I came to see Prince rock a guitar, not a 10 minute keyboard solo by Renato...

Ah I get it..so its YOUR concert and Prince will play what YOU want him to play, I was quite happy to hear Renato play his keyboards and for Mike Philly to play his sax..it all adds to the mood and you get chance to hear some outstanding musicians play!

Why are you a Prince fan out of interest?
