PRINCE and BONO

Apart from that time in Ireland where they met/spoke and sang, had they EVER chatted before then, or since?

I'm sure they had some conversation at the NAACP awards ceremony 2007, where Bono gave that very moving speech. I like Bono, he stands for something.

well said, but what's the saying "he has more talent in his little finger than others do in their entire bodies"... something like that.

Don't really know and could care less.
Bono annoys me... U2 as well for some reason. I don't like the Rolling Stones for some other stupid reason like that.

Maybe I'm just sore that Bono got some Liberty Medal award and they kept advertising it, saying "One name." That makes all the difference or something like that... Prince did nothing really for mankind like Bono, as far as I know (besides the whole making music thing). But Prince should be the one getting talked about and getting the special awards.
[I'm being irrationally ridiculous right now, but I'm weird that way]

And here's another funny little coincidence... that kinda deepens the rift, why Bono kinda annoys me.
Let's just say if u changed the last letter of his name (and the pronouciation), you have my last name. (And no, it's not BOND as in James Bond, falloff )

no, and I'm not about to play the name here... its off-topic. Not that my post had anything to do with the topic. Bono annoys me for getting praised more than Prince, end of story zipped

I love the Prince interview quote in which he states something to the effect of, "I can do what they do, i've played Lacrosse, but let them do Housequake."

The comment was a reaction to Joshua Tree winning the grammy over SOTT and Bono's pretentious speech in which he gives P a backhanded compliment, "Prince is more than a brilliant song-and-dance man."

I've always thought that musically, U2 was overrated. And that their musical documentary in which they are walking through Harlem is laughable in it's pomposity as they attempt to claim blues and R&B history.

I'm sure I remember reading about that too, here at the org ... Something about Prince on stage at the main show and Bono with Mani at the side, both watching him perform. Does this sound familiar?

I'd actually forgotten about this! I was pretty close to the front at the spirit nightclub aftershow, Bono was clearly visible at the side of the stage.

prince is a pretentious arse in a charming, quirky, "oh, that prince! what will he think of next?" kind of way

bono is a pretentious arse in a cloying, infuriating "IF YOU DONT SHUT THE FUCK UP IM GOING TO ASSAULT YOU WITH A TIRE IRON" kind of way. (admittedly prince has approached being this on several occasions in the past)

Wow, cool thread.

Well, as a Prince fan since the Reagan presidency, and not owning more than one U2 album, I'll have to say this:

Bono, on his best day, couldn't do HALF the things Prince can.

But in terms of how to treat fans and how to use music to try to change the world? Bono is head and shoulders above almost all other pop stars.

Prince's contributions to non-Prince projects? Who knows? He doesn't really publicize anything he does or doesn't do.

Bono, as an advocate for AIDS research and even more importantly against poverty and third world debt... amazing.

Musicianship ---> Prince all the way.

World Citizenship ---> Bono. By far. Bono.
