I personally think that the songs that Prince has been playing recently on all of his dates are the ones he knows his fans are going to want to hear. Shoot, I was surprised when he added "Joy And Repetition" to his music sets. So many songs and so little time..... nod

I think, Prince is as edgy as he can get for his age. It is perfectly normal to become a little anal retentive, as we get older and hopefully wiser.
While Prince used to be spiritual throughout his career, he now follows a religion that comes with rules that define very clearly where his limits are, or ought to be. I think it wouldn't go over very well with the JW, should he decide to perform his edgier songs in full length again.
Sometimes however, I do get the impression that Prince is struggling to keep his edgier side hidden. It is definitely there under the surface.

I think u're right, he clearly still loves these edgier tunes but he is trying to remain faithful to his beliefs.

On 21/9 at the O2 when I heard the opening notes of Darling Nikki at the keyboard - I grabbed my sister in shock and screamed I can't believe he's gonna do this track.....then he said 'I can't do that' (may be wishful thinking but I thought he sounded a little sad when he said that).
