Housequake back on line!?!

The piece that was on the Houseuake home page made very interesting reading. Looks like they got a bit fed up with being co-operative. Can't say I blame them really. The message was as follows:

The Housequake.com team has spent the last couple of months looking into the legal standing with regards to the fair use of copyrighted images and have been discussing a way forward with Prince's appointed third party negotiators. Sadly, despite the full agreement of Housequake to remove, without prejudice, the items requested, and the agreement that Web Sheriff could post on the open forum, we have received word that Prince's team now believes that they are entitled to compensation for the items shown or linked from Housequake.com in the past.

As stated on many occasions, Housequake.com is a fully independent fan community website, ran on a non commercial basis in order to provide a forum for discussion of Prince's music, concerts, appearances and work. To ask for "compensation" without actually detailing infringements nor based upon any sound legal judgement is frankly, in our opinion, ludicrous.

Housequake.com is fortunate enough to have a number of members working in the legal community who have been providing a phenomenal amount of assistance and clarification over the past few months. We shall continue to work with this team to vigorously defend these allegations, and to protect Prince's fans rights to freedom of speech and fair use of both Paisley Park Enterprises copyrighted images and non PRN owned images, while at the same time not infringing on Prince or PRN's copyrights. In the meantime, we would like to clarify that Web Sheriff will no longer be an active member of this fan community.

Without doubt, there will be a lot of vociferous and emotional feelings during the oncoming legal process but we would again like to take the opportunity to remind everyone why we're here and why the Housequake.com team puts in hours of dedicated hard work - because it's "All about the Music" and Housequake.com remains an independent site, by fans, for fans.

Maybe he is in the full throws of a mid-life-crisis (male equivalent to menopause), or his new love-interest isn't responding to him, or he needs to get laid, or something needs to happen, for Prince to lighten up a bit.

Any word can be offensive - it is the manner in which a word is used and the amount of venom/hatred behind it that makes it offensive and hurtful. Maybe you should be making appologies for Prince harrassing the very people who have made him a MILLIONAIRE. How much have we spent on his records, his CDs, his singles, his paraphanalia, his concerts, his club, his website? Multiply that by the amount of members on Housequake and you will come up with quite a staggering number.

And now he wants to milk more money from them by suing a site that does exactly what you support and that is suck from the Paisley teet! If you don't like critical opinions of Prince, too bad. You can't expect the people who have devoted themselves, not to mention their pocketbooks, to someone only to get slapped in the damn face to be happy about it.
