Prince's Rap

Prince has tried rapping in many different songs and was very successful at it. He had a very orignial flow...hasn't done it in awhile though. I know he never likes to do the same thing twice, but rapping is like using an instrument, a way to work your voice. He continues to use his regular voice and falsettos, but he's quit the rap for awhile, the closest thing being his monologue in Muse 2 the Pharoah. Anybody else think he should give it a try again?

I don't like it when he raps either, but I like it when he flows like at the beginning of The Greatest Romance with Eve. That sounded really smooth. Otherwise his rap is umm ... not so good.

No way, Prince is not a rapper he is a dead pop baby. It pisses me off when artists like him take really good songs and layer techno shite and rap all over it. SEXY MF would be a kick ass song if that shite in the end didn't come up. Random black guys in parachute pants running into the scene. BLAH
Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire

I like a lot of his rap based songs. Especially when he's doing it-

Gett Off
Sexy MF
18 & Over
Face Down
Days of Wild
Now
Pussy Control
Race
The Good Life remix
Come On remix

Those are all kick-ass songs! Not to mention when he let the ladies do it like Cindy C., Alphabet St., Transmississippi rap.

If Prince would have never rapped, I´d never got into his music. I like rap a lot (old school: PE, RunDMC,Ice T...), and I know when Prince raps it´s different... I love his rapping, anyway.

When Prince is TRYING to rap in the hip hop way it undercuts his music. When he's not trying to really "rap" in that sense, as in "Muse 2 The Pharaoh" or "Irresistable Bitch" it turns out much better and doesn't seem forced. I hope he never works with another rapper again either.

You guys are too funny!
Anyway I agree with whoever said his forced rap like in The Latest Fashion is bad ill again he can flow like in The Greatest Romance just not intentionally rap. Besides it's just not his style. I alway thought his style was anti-rap.

Hope Not."Love 2 The 9's" is one Good Reason Alone why He Should toss the Raps away for Good. His Side Rappers are either Peeps that were at the Local Minneapolis Bus Stop&Prince picked them up or the Peeps that have something on Him&forced the issue.

These songs are all great. But most of them showcase his form of quasi-rap. I think that he has some great music laid down and he knows traditional sing-song isn't going to fit right.

No one wants to hear his "Dead On It" style done ever again...

I think Prince was great rapping on Sexy MF,Days Of Wild and especially Face Down. I loved that Tora,Tora,Tora character also with The NPG . That was so Funny and that hat with the Flower and his shoes and I love that Chain Hat. Prince is always Cool. His rapping was Fly. The Sexy MF video is so Great and I'll never get over Violett The Organ Grinder or his Gangster Glam with him and the Roller Skates and Black bathing Suit with Suspenders. Damn I would just have stripped right there and dove into that pool for him and that car . I would have let him take me right on the Hood. Right in the Sun. He was and is so Talented and Gorgeous! I could pass out right now.

ITS Embarrassing eyepop. Sometimes he rhyme like a white boy but on the other hand some of his rhymes are tight(18 & Over-Days of Wild-Pussy Control"SNOP DOGG's STYLE").

And BTW The Muse in the Pharaoh & The greatest romance ain't RAP wink its spoken words/poetry style.

Tossed Salad head needs to leave the rapping to the real rappers. He ain't got the 'FLOW'.

He's alright when he does his own thing, though. I'll give him that. Like on "Muse..." and "Irresistable..."

But I'm glad he stopped trying to be Ice T (Sexy M.F., actually most of the prince album)
