tender surrender i heard a couple versions of this song done by Prince during soundchecks. and i loved them. i found out later on that it was a cover of Steve Vai's ( the guy who played guitar for David Lee Roth and the devil in the movie crossroads ). u gotta check out how he plays it. live!

That's not a real "live" performance. It's from Steve's "Alien Love Secrets" DVD from quite a few years back. The performances were done in studio to the CD's recorded tracks. .That is the studio version of the tune. Again no live audio there.
This is probably the best "finger-synched" video performance I've seen & Vai is just the guy to pull it off. His nack guitar histonics & theatrics is umatched! LOL! Prince has never covered "Tender surrender". The song he performs is "Villanova junction" by Jimi Hendrix. This was confirmed on the NPGMC.
Although apparently even Steve Vai himself thought it was his song. | |
