U think Prince is really happy ?

Was watching a doc bout the early years and how he f*cked off his cousin for commercial & watever else reasons, and at the end everyone on there reckons he's not really happy

doesnt ever return to his fam/friends that helped him back then, they think he's created this bubble round him as a bizarre music obsessed loner and he cant back down from it

or maybe they just jealous of his success ?

2 me how he comes across is how he is ?

I think (like many people) he has a number of things that have been troubling to him throughout his life..and Im sure he would do a few things differently today if he had the opportunity..But Im also pretty darn sure that he realizes he's been blessed..and People wouldn't be selling 30 year old prince stories unless he was special enough for the world to care !

I'll say this:

Listening to Planet Earth has told me 3 things about him:
1) He can still write beautiful music
2) He is still capable of making a great album (I say)
3) He is in a VERY good place right now, both mentally & spiritually.

You can just feel it. The album is wrapped with some sort of magical feeling, a newfound enlightenment (which most likely comes from his study of the scriptures). His happiness just makes the songs glow with brilliance and I dunno what else to call it.

Yes, I'd say he's very happy right now and I hope he continues to write albums that give me the same sense of magic. cool

i dont think u can judge a person by the actions of others or indeed those that work for them, big business involves lots of people.

There are big questions here about privacy, censorship etc and i think a person who writes lyrics about not walkin the way they want u to etc cant possible believe in such heavy censorship but once you start a hate ball rollin its hard to stop as so many people probably have a financial interest in 'serving' Princes perceived needs in this way. Its easy to be advised by wisperers as solomon knew. im not religious but fairly well read u get me?

i think people are quick to condemn and judge without understanding an entire picture which is why such stupid titles like ok, closer etc magazines sell so may copies, like the threads appearing on here showing pics of prince in unusual or amusing positions faces etc get so much attention.

yep hes human and yep so are we

Now, on a serious note... I don't think he's all too happy. Sure he's waaay too successful and has money and just about every material thing a man could desire.

But think about it, he has yet to find true everlasting love...

He's lost a child (truly the greatest tragedy of all...)

He's constantly trying to protect what's his (music, video rights and such) which makes him come off as an eccentric a-hole sometimes.

Legions of fans and detractors alike trying to interpret or dissect his every move, lyric, outfit, marketing strategy etc.

I don't know but I'm searchin' for the happy in all that and maybe it's because I'm not a rock star but I'm having a lot of trouble finding it...

I don't know if he's happy or not. I think only very close friends know the answer to that question. And they don't post on the org.
What I do know is that his music still sounds cheerful and uplifting. So I assume he's not unhappy.

better to be unhappy with all that cash and ego than unhappy with no cash and nobody praising u.

considering happiness is not permanent im sure he had and has a LOT of happy moments in his life and things that make him look back and be proud.

he does what he likes most and is talented at it and very sucessful

spiritualy we dont know at what level he is in.

Many people are happy. I'm not saying that everything is hunky dory, but for the most part, life is good and I feel somewhat content and happy in my everyday life.

As far as Prince goes, I think he's happy enough. I think he would be happier if he would just be himself and find a woman to settle down with and have children.

I dont think he is a happy individual in general, too complex for his own good, but when he performs live he sometimes seems able to transcedent that misery.

If any, I think this is one of those threads that Prince should check out if he ever stops by here.

What a better way to show him that we all care about him and are concerned about his happiness as his listeners & admirers. cool

I think its kinda sweet. Props 2 the thread-starter thumbs up!

Nice post btw! I don't know about "magical" though, but I got a similar vibe from the London concerts this summer. I think it's God's blessings...

That would surely make a man (or woman) very happy indeed! smile

Oh thank you. Compliments are hard to come by for me lately. I appreciate it.

Well, that's just my opinion about PE. But I think you are right about "God's blessings". So of course I say he's happy. biggrin

I seriously doubt he's unhappy, maybe not completely satisfied, but hey I sure he's working on it. I'm not really into the whole turning Prince into a tragedy concept. He's a guy that lives on planet earth, he's got problems like everybody else. He alright, he's too feisty.

can't believe you fans on here sometimes - he's just done a load of concerts at 30 quid with free cd or 25 quid for up to a 3 hour aftershow - i'd say that was actually a pretty generous gesture to an awful lot of people plus 2 virtually free cd/dvd's this summer etc. etc. i have only really been a fan for a short while and i don;'t know of any other artist who has done anything like this - what a b....y miserable bunch some of you are neutral
"C'mon y'all - let me hear you sing, c'mon y'all, shake, c'mon y'all, jump" - Yes Prince -
"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince -
"Can I play my guitar now?" - yes please

His main source of happiness is certainly his music.
I don't think he's totally happy with himself as a person. We all have our issues and there is always room for improvement.
I don't think he allows himself to dwell on the negative things that happen to him. I read somewhere, that he doesn't believe in holding on to memories. That can be a good thing, but can also backfire sometimes.
Sometimes its better to deal with issues and work through them, than to pretend that there aren't any issues.
love the one who is Love!
