hardly a challenge! tut, tut!

Getting paid a lot of money to play for a bunch of rich stuffed shirts is not the challenge I'm talking about...that part is easy for him..rather the challenge of actually entertaining them...they would hire him just for the prestige of it weather or not they actually like him could be quite another thing altogether! Making them want to get up and dance the way his usual fans in a comfortable concert venue do could be a challenge.

So you think that after 30 + years Prince doesn't worry about how the show will come across? You think he never cares if the audience likes what they see?

At this point in his career maybe he does or maybe he doesn't but I like to think that he still feels challenged by his job....certain audiences in different places are a definite challenge for many entertainers.

Not to mention the fact that I think these private gigs have a lot less to do with business and more to do with a personal agenda...hence the "private" nature of them.

argue all you want, it still doesn't get away from the fact that P is 1 step away from being a wedding singer.

You might be surprised to hear that very few artists turn down these gigs when they're approached for them. Prince is no different. The atmosphere at these private gigs has got to be fucking crap though.

If getting paid millions for one boring private gig is enough to keep him afloat so he can do 21 concerts for the public at £30 a time then great!

Neophyte

How does what he is doing affect u/me? If, it doesn't then what does it matter how he chooses to make his money.

Maybe he needs this to stroke his ego, maybe he does it just to prove he can? Maybe it's affirmation after years of not being quite the 'latest fashion'? and maybe it is just all about the money? u know what I can't b mad at that regardless of the reason.

My first reaction was hrmph but I got over it cause I ain't a hypocrite and I know, yeah if I had a mil u bet your arse P would b playing in my crib too.

Cause nothing compares....nothing compares 2 u!"

I'm still trying to figure out what peoples problem is with Prince doing what has been his primary source of income for 30 years and getting paid for it.

It's not like Prince is a scientist who happends to play music and only choses to play music for the rich and/or famous. neutral

I haven't read about this performance, but did you just think that Prince might actually enjoy traveling to other countries and spending time there as well. So that could be a perk, traveling, doing what he loves to do-play music and he does get paid. Everyone is happy. biggrin Now ask yourself why aren't you? neutral

It's good business. There is nothing wrong with it.
