I'd speculate it's what may have been in the genesis for the morhphing of sexuality and spirituality that Prince was famous for. Purple banana could be a phallic reference to God, do you think? Or something else?

The song is titled "Let"s Go Crazy"...I think the saying..."lets look for the purple banana" is referring to the suggestion that we break away from the dull, mundane, or whatever has brought us down....go crazy, and search for the opposite..go bananas, or nuts and find uplifting happiness!

I've seen this same discussion about the song Purple Rain where people ask what is "Purple Rain" and the answer to that is - ejaculate.
