I believe it's part of a marketing concept.

Someone taught me long ago, that for a musical act to become mega-famous, there were certain things that needed to be done or adhered to:

1. Make sure you have a distinguishable sound that is all your own.
2. Come up with a unique fashion sense (style of dress) that people can latch onto or at least recognize.
3. Invent your own language (style of writing) and develop it in a way that speaks to your fans.

Another of these points that I've noticed Prince has stuck to over the years stated that you should never smile on the cover of your albums if you want to be taken seriously as an artist, and to record each album as if it may be your last.

I think these are just a few "rules" that Prince as clung to over the years.

Lots of Funkadelic, Sly titles etc are written like this and we know he loves them.

Even i have strung words together for fun and i remember seeing a poet or 2 from the far past that have done this as well. As i noticed while studing English and American Lit. However,i can not at this moment reference anybody to a specific quote.
