Y-Life: Have you been in chatrooms devoted to your work? Prince: A couple of times—not much. When I first started, I tried one time to unify a group splintered by whether I was still"funky" or not. That question still goes on, obviously. But what ended up happening was that I got a webmaster out of it—Sam Jennings, who runs the NPG site out of Chicago. But I guess what I find beautiful on the Internet is wherever I find agreement. That's beautiful even to people who are full of hate. Wonder what chatroom he was refering to? Be interesting to read the thread he posted in.  There was an AOL chat that he used at that time. He invited certain people into chat, and in fact he also found the lady who runs the L4OA charity (or use to, not sure if she does) through those chats and may have even come up with the concept of the charity around that time. I read some of the transcripts from those chats. A very beautiful soul Prince is. I also think that he visited the chatroom on his old website L4OA. And if it's who I think it was, he was truly an inspiration and just a fun guy. I actually kind of miss those chats. BTW, Prince used the Princebonics a lot but he wrote normal, talked normal, not in rhyme or with a "mysterious air". He was pretty forthright about what he wanted to say. Just a heads up that I've seen a few Prince pretenders who tried to write all in Princebonics and develop an air of mystery, and the guy in the chats that was certainly Prince (on AOL) just stated what he wanted to say, asked what he wanted to ask, no mystery (but did use princebonics). These were more intimate. Sam was involved, opnmind, and several others. It was sort of a round robin type of chat, in which Prince tried to get people to think about life, love, living, and to act upon those thoughts. These were before the L4OA website. They were very beautiful chats from the ones I read and very insightful. I remember this chat that you posted though. Thanks again, because it brings back some very wonderful memories. | |
