Prince apologies-I have been living in ignorance!

Wowsa, I have been living in ignorance for so long, just being a casual Prince fan I only owned the greatest hits-which had a grand total of 17 songs by the great man on it.

And now Im just discovering all the great songs he has written, which I previously never knew existed.

Im loving the musicology album right now especially Call my name, just shows me that Prince can write fantastic stuff even as recent as Musicology.
Oh Princey if your free for a couple of hours...If you aint busy for the next 7 years...Lets Pretend were married, and go all night..

3121 and Planet Earth are both way better than Musicology. I abhore that album.

No need for apologies. 99% of the human race lives in ignorance.

haha... I was in a very casual "relationship" for Prince for a couple of years. My dad owned the Purple Rain album, but I never bothered to pick it up and listen to it.
When I started collecting, I got Musicology, The Very Best of..., 3121 and TGE.
Musicology didn't do it for me, but 3121 really did. I got more familiar with his singles by owning "The Very Best of..." but now I pretty much own every album of music on there except for Graffiti Bridge & Prince...

But I'm surprised even now that I stayed away as long as I have. I knew he was a great talent, having seen the movie, what little of it was left at the time... but I never bothered to check him out. I never thought I'd be in a place like this and thinking about/listening to him every day. cool
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Dreamy - Please stop with these types of posts. You're scaring us all. You and Prince will never be in a "relationship".

I rarely get through a day without spinning at least one prince track, im loving planet earth, my favourite album of the decade so far, every single track is stunning!

I spun the hell out of musicology and 3121 as well, but thing is these 3 albums have shown major growth in song writing and every one is an improvement on the other, i cant wait to hear the follow up to planet earth.

rolleyes I used quotes for that reason... I wasn't being serious.

Note to the thread-starter, it's okay comfort
What matters now is that you made that leap into this world and am starting to see how amazing all of Prince's music really is. More or less, focus more on the present and future than the past. cool

Far from it.
When she first started posting she wrote some interesting things about her experiences first getting into Prince from Purple Rain and the superbowl.

However, now it's like a "Look at me!" thing she's doing where she posts lengthy track-by-track album reviews, split up into multiple posts instead of one big one as if we're hanging on her every word.

And the way she writes about her "personal connection" to Prince and how she ponders whether Prince cares about her or not... it's scary.

I'm all for more people getting into Prince, don't get me wrong, but you're right there is something unhinged about her posts. She could just be a hippy though. But seriously, with all the great songs the man's done, she picks GOLD.

Why not Gold!?!?!? I think that is a very beautiful song, everybody is not going to like the samething. That's just how it goes whether we like it or not! shrug

Yeh I had a gretaest hits cd with 17 songs on which I presumed were 'the only hits' but now Im going back to the very beggining, getting each cd and unearthing some classics which I never knew before-Its great that every one I know is listening to artists that are happening now and Ive gone right back tot he early 80's!!

Yeh dont get me wrong, Im loving planet Erath too, and its funny cos if I hadnt of went the concert and got the cd, I probably never would have bought it-let that be a lesson to me-cos I cant stop playing it especially future baby moma and Mr.Goodnight. lol

heh, those two (along with all the midnights) are part of the my fav. 3-song progression on that album.
Mr. Goodnight's my fav. song on the album... but yeah, the album is pretty addictive. Every now and then, I get a song or so from it in my head and I'm tempted to play it again. But I've got so much music to get through that I don't have time to linger in the present, heh.

Neophyte

Don't apologise...I have been a Prince fan for 22 years, have about 17 of his albums and since joining the Org I feel like I have been living in ignorance myself.

I love what is readily available out there but never had any of the internet-only stuff...the bootlegs etc these are things I knew nothing about. I still don't cause I don't own any, but when people here speak about them I can live vicariously.

wink wink
