She's dumb, she's boring, she's annoying, she joins the band of her boyfriends RIVAL, she does things to get ahead, she doesn't really stand up for herself.

hated everything about her wooden dance moves, her mono tone delivery of her lines, and her bland singing.

What I gather is that everyone who hates Apollonia hates her because:

a) "She can't act"/"She's a terrible actress"
b) She's not Vanity

In response to a), haha... everyone in the movie except for the 2 professionals (The Kid's parents) couldn't really act, so picking on Apollonia in particular I think boils down to b).

Correct me if I'm wrong here:
Vanity was Prince's high school girlfriend and just before production of the movie was underway, she quit because she wanted to work on her solo career without Prince. The fact she quit in the first place was probably after a falling-out she had with Prince. Not quite sure on who broke up with who.

But the producers started looking for a replacement and Apollonia (who had some acting experience previous to the movie) was the one they picked.

Both Vanity and Apollonia didn't really have good singing voices. They were merely eye-candy, considering that the "6" attire was lingerie. Neither of their voices were the greatest in the world. Apollonia's singing voice, I wasn't too crazy about for a certain period of time.
But I grew to like it as I saw the movie a few more times. And she is beautiful. I think she played her part well.
