Its all about stereotypes...
Its Kinda the opposite of:

"YOU LOOK LIKE YOUR NAME IS SHANIQUA THE WAY YOU ARE BOPPIN YOUR HEAD TO THAT HIP HOP SONG"

Just watch any old Eddie murphy concerts and you will get the vibe...
Its a very common Murphyism to say that only naive, screaming ,white ladies get caught by villians in horror films..murder movies...ect..
He says "No Black person would get caught like that cause all a black person would need to hear is a strange voice in the house saying "G E T O U T"
Once !
and that would be the end of the story The Brother would be GONE ! lol
Where as a white lady would be like..."Oh my Gawd..what do we do..."?? This is really freaky .. lol lol lol "Until the Bad guy/monster breaks the window and chases her silly screaming ass through the woods...
Go watch some murphy or richard pryor stand up..and you wont ever have to ask what "dancing like a white girl" or screaming like a white lady" means Ever Again ! wink

In my opinion, many white girls can dance, certainly all girls can scream,
even if they are temporarily restrained from those physical movements.

Oh my God,
rolleyes and I see it time and time again, how offended black women get, when somebody tries to stereotype them.
It goes both ways, everybody has the right to get offended.
And by the way, Oprah can't dance! biggrin

I'm a white lady and was in no way offended by the lyrics. If you consider what he's implying...what the lyrics are about it seems to me that he's...er...a...rather impressed by the screams of white women.

Seriously people given the subject matter of this song do you think he's talking about the high pitched horror screams from scary movies or the screams of a woman in the pitch of passion? wink

For the record...I couldn't possibly reach the high pitch scream that is so stereotypical of white women in terror! lol lol
He gets it! That's why the ladies love him...batting eyes

Yeah?? Don't tell that to Prince!

I don't have to tell him, he already knows and he doesn't care, by the way! There has been some mixing going on in Prince's family. How else would you explain his very light skincolor? Certainly not from his African ancestors. It has never been a big deal for him, nor has it stopped him from going after what he wanted in life. You act, like it's a bad thing to be an oreo. Or is it just the white part of the oreo, that you don't like.
I think oreos are beautiful, because they have the best of both worlds. Anybody who dislikes oreos, has a problem with one or the other color and could therefore being justified as being racist. That goes both ways too, by the way. Black people can be just as racist as white people. Believe it or not. I see and live it on a daily basis and let you guess about my skincolor! I do get judged by my skincolor a lot here in the States, but I don't let it bother me. Because people that judge by skincolor (black or white) are ignorant.
And I know for a fact, that Prince isn't ignorant and I love and respect him for that.
I could care less if anybody's black or white, but I do care if people, black or white, use skincolor to put others down or ridicule them.
As long as people keep pointing out skincolor and associate skincolor with certain behaviour patterns, there will be no respect and togetherness between the races, because somebody is going to end up being hurt or offended.
And just for the record, I didn't start with the word "oreo" nor do I try to offend anybody with it.

My reference is not about skin color.... more about how she treats SOME of the black guests on her show. I am a fan of Oprah's but I was pretty pissed off when she had Prince on her show and was pressuring him about the medical condition of his child...

Gohi

The "white lady" comment is just a light-hearted humorous jab that is nothing to get offended about.

Sometimes I think Prince fans WANT to be offended by him. Everything he says is over-analyzed until people start making mountains out of mole-hills based on a simple statement of his.

okay everybody does have the right to get offended but making a thread about how now they think Prince is now racist...get the heck outta here, thats ridiculous rolleyes
If Prince is racist from that then they shouldve just thrown all of Richard Pryor,Eddie Murphy, and Chris Rock's material in there. And 4 people taking this line in a song so serious when it obviously wasnt meant for long drawn out unnecessary essays to be written about it on a FANSITE...need 2 get a life and learn how to take a joke.
and Prince...an oreo?sorry, far from it,I think. Is it because he knows how to play guitar? confused Maybe your perception of Prince is an oreo but I doubt it. neutral

In the movie, Under the Cherry Moon, Prince makes a reference to how a black women screams when she is having sex. It is a funny scene...and I haven't heard of any black women complaining about it. Can't we all just get along?

falloff dont tell them to look that up.If some cant handle this, imgaine hearing that...it would be a revolt lol But honestly I dont think it had anything to do with trust...he seemed to just have a better connection with his Black fans who he saw as treating him like family, especially during the name change.Im not saying thats what he meant but after seeing the interview thats what I got from that comment.
