What's your favorite Prince Album?

Just been driving 2 work listening to the LoveSexy album. It made me realise (once again) that it is probably my favorite Prince Album. So Y is that? Well besides from being a brilliant - this was the album that made me fall complete and utterly in heart with Prince and his music.

My gf introduced me to LoveSexy when I was 15. Didn't take me long to buy the album, and I played it over and over again. I still remember puttin' it on at night (as well) - what a wonderful way 2 fall a sleep cloud9

I can't play my original first Prince album anymore. It looks as if it has been abused by a sadist DJ - thou it was only lil ol me playing it to pieces.

LoveSexy is my spring-album. He's so right - the idol we are all inhere 4 - in the spring I don't need a person 2 fall in heart with...again and again I fall in love with LoveSexy - gives me just that feeling.

Biggest regret concerning this period was that I didn't get to c Prince on the LoveSexy tour where he visited Copenhagen august 21st '88. My dear fellow orger Squirrely - and way further back friend - sorta always wins the contest on who has seen the coolest concerts! He will always end up saying: "Cool U saw Prince in Paris '91 (or whateva) but did U see the '88 show in Cph?". Grrr! If I could turn back time - this is the concert I'd just have 2 c! And I'd heart 2 of course! smile

Ahh well - now the question. What Prince album is your fave? And y?

Say yes y'all
Feels so good it must b a crime...

Wow... that's a big question. Btw, love your account about Lovesexy.

I used to have one defined favorite. I might still do, but I can't be 100% positive. If I listen to one album too much, it starts to get old and the magic starts to disappear. That's why I like to rotate mine whenever I can.

Having said that, I think any of my albums have potentials to be my favorite at the current time because I'm really enjoying it.
Musicology, 3121, prince, Controversy, Come, TGE, Planet Earth, 1999, Purple Rain, ATWIAD, Parade, TBA... any of these I could listen to and I'd be like "Wow I love this album, its my favorite" for the time being.

But to narrow down the playing field, I've enjoyed the following albums throughout: Come, TGE, Planet Earth, 1999, Purple Rain, Parade, prince

Currently, though, TGE is my favorite because it's helped me rediscover many of the reasons why I've stayed with Prince and love his music... also why he's special to me as an artist.

In my car - Chaos and disorder

In my bedroom - Lovesexy

Anywhere - Parade

I guess if I had one, it would have to be Parade

I very much agree on the points made: fave album changes from day 2 day. However 4 me - Lovesexy is the one that always surprises me, by how much I've missed it when I haven't heard it for a while - and put it on again. The amazing thing about Prince - is 2 take the loooong listening thru all his albums - and hear how much he has developed from album 2 album, and how much variation you have - in just 1 artist. Amazes me all the time bow 2 the greatest 4 a long time smile

I've had a few over the years - ATWIAD, 1999, SOTT, Lovesexy and Dirty Mind have all been top at some time. However, for a good number of years now it has been Parade. I love the fun, funky vibe that pervades it. The beautiful ballad that closes it, the string arrangements, the singles, the videos, the image, the cover, W & L, and the whole avant garden European feel. It's Prince at his coolest. Strangely enough it doesn't contain any of my favourite songs, but I listen to it more than any other album.

The Parade show in London was fantastic too - my first ever concert, but Lovesexy two years later was the best concert I've ever been to.
