He was my penfriend (from somewhere near Birmingham, UK that is, not Alabama!) and we corresponded for no less than 4 years at the steady pace of 1 to 2 letters a week! He is also the one who introduced me to Prince’s music in 1986. Before that I barely knew who Prince was (I used to be a big Michael Jackson fan). One day, he sent me a tape compiling various Prince tracks, (including some B-sides) and after the second listen, I was hooked. Our letters mainly discussed Prince’s music but we also shared experiences from our lives as teenagers in our respective countries (I am from France). He had the most beautiful handwriting (always using a purple pen). Unfortunately, we both left home for university and lost track of each other in the process… The funny thing is that despite sharing so much and connecting so well in writing, we never actually met each other!

I just thought it would be interesting to get in touch and compare what we’ve both been up to all these years. I wonder if he is still a Prince fan. Obviously I am!

If any of you know him, could you please org note me. To verify that we are both talking about the same person, please confirm one or more of the following details:
his home address in 1986 (at least the street/town), his age, number of brothers and sisters, subject of studies and first university attended.

You’re also welcome to send any additional information that you think might help me find him.

Many thanks in advance!

(How do you get this to be a sticky?)

I too am looking for some very dear long lost Prince freinds from way back in the mid 90s, when I first got onto the Internet!! I met a lot of them through the old Emancipation Mailing List and we all kept in touch over the next 5 years, untill everything started going downhill in the online Prince community due 2 his music getting 2 b crap and also the sites and everything started disappearing and closing due 2 Princes asshole ways!!

I am looking for:

John Ross formerly from Garland, Texas but moved 2 the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana

Joseph "Josie" Wilson of Louisville, Kentucky

Jermaine Felton of The Bronx, NYC

Nahum Romero Zamora aka Mantra from Mexico City

Clifton Smith of Columbia, Maryland

Bernhard Trettenbrein of Graz, Austria

Flaminio Ranzato of Cuneo, Italy

Charles Phipps of Wayne, Pennsylvania

Maarten Tates of Utrecht, Holland

I wonder if this site can help us in some way in finding long lost Prince freinds from the past!! I think ALL Prince fans must come on here 2 check out Prince stuff seeing as though this site is the only main one that is up and running at the moment!!

Please guys, lets have a section for this!!! sad sad sad

Yes, this would be a very useful forum actually. Let's ask the mods, shall we?
