Vote for Prince's Symbol Guitar to win a People's Design Award! It's that time of year again...some of you may remember I nominated the guitar last year as well. (It didn't win ![]() Here are the basics: 1. Go to www.peoplesdesignaward.org and search for “Prince”(the search function is in the upper right side of the page and you have to click "Search nominees" to make it work). 2. Register: You won't be able to vote until you register, which requires a valid email address. If you voted last year and remember your user id & password, just log in with that. Otherwise you can register as a new user. You DO NOT have to fill out your mailing address—and uncheck the box if you don’t want to receive future emails. 3. Vote: Once you register/activate your account you can browse designs posted on the site or even nominate a new design—but you can only vote for ONE object! (Prince's Symbol Guitar, hint hint ![]() ![]() Even though the Blue Angel (cloud) guitar is my personal favorite, I think that the Symbol guitar is the most iconic and also the guitar for which Prince was most directly responsible for the design. If all the Prince fans consolidate their vote for the Symbol guitar, maybe it could win...last year it reached the top 10! Contest ends October 17, 2007. Thanks and happy voting! (PS. I wonder how long it will take fuckin' Websheriff to make the Smithsonian take down those pics, even though they're being used to nominate Prince for an award... ![]()

I'm just wondering how something that debuted in 1994 can be eligible for a 2007 design contest?

I always thought that. .. uh... "guitar", did you call it? was a tad on the fugly side...
The blue cloud was prettier. heck even that nasty brown hohner, bless it, looks better than that thing...It's got character. [Edited 10/1/07 17:29pm]

^ Yes, I think the symbol guitar is ugly too, (I don't like the sound of it either) but I tried to pick something that had a unique design and that Prince was primarily responsible for. (Don't know how much influence he had on the shape of the cloud guitars.)
Anyway....thanks to everyone's vote's thus far the Symbol Guitar has moved up considerably in the rankings...it's #20 now! ![]() ![]()
