Prince WB albums out of print Hey,
I work at Amoeba (a record store, or let me phrase this-the record store). And it just came down the wire that the Prince catalog has been discontinued (the WB stuff). Anyone think this whole EBAY, Youtube, suing issue may be some sort of strategic move? Do you think that they will be reissued, and remastered? Nero

Of course it's strategic....Prince is clever in the art of surprise. Believe me, he's playing some elaborate, invisible chess game...I'm sure he already has us all in check by now, So we sit back and wait for mate day. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

This has been discussed before. It's just a case of WB changing their distributor for Prince's back cat soon. So they won't be deleted for long, and stocks are unlikely to dry up in the meantime anyway.

a little too simple...? what? Anyway I've worked in record stores and the music industry and it seems perfectly plausable [Edited 10/2/07 16:48pm]

The distribution of Prince's back-cat is changing, provisionally for a period of one year. That is why all his albums will appear as 'deleted' for a short period of time while the catalogue is moved over. Once they get reinstated onto the new distributor they will be exactly the same (so no remasters, no bonus tracks or anything unfortunately). So it's just an internal WB thing, not anything that will affect us as consumers/fans.
