times prince makes this type of song really work. it's great.

new world, the human body, face down - all those dancy emancipation songs have dated really badly. Maybe they'll sound better in 10 years.

Uhm, they were all sort of retro even in the first place and used a lot of the aesthetics of his early records, just done with more current gear (when "analog" synth sounds started becoming all the rage once again with the advent of VA synths). But those songs didn't sound cutting-edge even back then, and weren't meant to. Sans maybe "The Human Body" and "Sleep Around" - altough I'm not sure how well Prince managed to convey artistically the standards of dance music of the day with those ones (or was he even trying in the frist place, really). He could have done more contemporary dance-oriented material soundwise, he already did it with "Loose!", but with the certain Emancipation cuts he started using again some of the musical ideas from "1999" and such for the synthesizer lines and drum programming. It was a big departure in a way from the music of the time.

Indeed one of his better tracks in the 'dance' genre.

That it sounds a bit dated now, isnt really strange, i mean, dance music is developing and changing so fast.
