Just been looking on wikipedia-so correct me if this is wrong, but Im shocked by Prince's chart position over the years.

Apparently he has had 5 number 1 singles in the U.S these were-
When Doves Cry
Lets Go Crazy
Kiss
Batdance
Cream

And in the UK his only number 1 single has been the most beautiful girl in the world.

Has the world gone mad, sorry but some of the singles that get to number one are shocking, and yet theres Prince a true master with only one UK number 1 single?!!

I think you're being a little bias by going through Wikipedia for information. True Prince may only have 1 British no.1 single. But the British were slow in loving Prince anyway. His first British no.1 album was Lovesexy I believe. To let you know, Wikipedia is only following the pop charts listings. So yes it's 5. But for the true and blue R&B fans who've been with Prince since the very beginning, he has 8 no.1 R&B singles. They are:

When Doves Cry
Let's Go Crazy
Kiss
Sign 'O' The Times
Batdance
Thieves In The Temple
Diamonds And Pearls
