Cosmic Day is a surprising to me to see listed here. Not because I don't like the song, but because this is the first I've heard of it circulating.

It's not circulating as far as I know, maybe one day it will though.

Can anyone provide describe the song? Is that the one that Planet Earth was compared to?

No, Planet Earth is more like Empty Room than anything else.
The best way of describing Cosmic Day would be Camille singing I Could
Never Take The Place Of Your Man.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the song "Heaven" (unless I've missed it through these posts). This is the one with the whirling organ sound. Great track. Although the version I have seems to start half way through the song!

My other faves have been mentioned already, incl. Neon Telephone, Wonderful Ass, There's Others Here With Us, Electric Intercourse.

So much good unreleased stuff.

It's not circulating to the general hardcore Prince fans. It's only circulating amongst the ultra hardcore we don't share because someday I can sell it for a lot of money Prince fans. But I have it and I'm neither.

And what do the " but i have it and i'm neither" people do?

Do they share? or sell? or just brag?

Hi - Yes, very different indeed. It's laid back and very relaxed.

I'm not sure when it was recorded, but it sounds like a pre studio pre finished version. It's only one verse and one chorus. It is just him and a guitar and he's strumming basic cords. It's really cool

According to Per Nilson, the Kiss demo was recorded at Sunset Sound, when Prince was recording both Parade and Mazarati simultaneously. Mazarati asked Prince for an extra song for their album, so he grabbed an acoustic guitar and sang a simple bluesy song (in his lower register voice). He gave Mazarati persmission to 'go nuts' on it, and they kind of turned it into the hit we all know. At which point Prince stole it back, coz it was too good! The acoustic version sounds a million miles away from the finished version - if he'd given that to me, I wouldn't have know WHAT to do with it. Really interesting to hear, though, if you can get hold of it.

I like the bluesy version, its quite ironic that prince didnt consider it good enough to keep for himself.

Was listening to The Truth this morning, and there are several songs on that which are bluesy (like KISS) and all could be converted into potentially ripper songs, but werent...

* Heaven - This dancy track from the Charade bootleg has next to no verse-chorus-verse structure, but it has a fun Linn groove and really effective composition -- perfect exposition, breakdowns, climaxes, "improv," etc. I'm not known for dancing, but this would keep me on the floor. (confuse Maybe that's why he never released it! mad)
* Big Tall Wall - Sick vocal harmonies around nothing but a Linn beat. Minimal classic.
* All Day, All Night - Slightly faster Jill Jones demo with Prince on vox, a driving bassline and a soaring keyboard riff in the chorus. Very nasty stuff. I daydreamed for years of seeing Prince do this live. headbang
* Moonbeam Levels - I agree "Free" worked better on 1999, but this song is the superior work, IMO. Very hopeful.
* Leaving for New York - Gorgeous showcase of simply piano and vox for such a young artist. Even as he never released this, Prince should have been performing this one live during acoustic sets.

Honorable mentions
* G-Spot - Slightly slower Jill Jones demo. More compelling rhythm section and Prince on vox for a more convincing performance than Jill's. Awesome.
* Wonderful Ass -- With that catchy Linn beat and rhythm guitar this is classic Revolution.
* Dance Electric - Extended jam of a favorite. Who could not like it?

I have heard a version of kiss called Qualified Kiss which is not bluesy at all.
It is slower than the released version but it has a very strong beat and a lot of synth.

Does anybody know the version I am talking about?
